This may look like a rant thread but is not intended to be one. I just want to voice my thoughts on making this site not be a shithole. If I can help to do this then yay us, because somebody obviously agreed with me. Anyways, there are so many places to start, and before I do, I just want to say one thing: I DON'T MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE IN THIS THREAD, SO DON'T TAKE IT AS A DIRECT OFFENSE.

-I know staff hate me, and some of them have a reason. But really the ones that dont know me, or I have never pissed off (I dont think) shouldnt go along with the other staff. They need their OWN opinions, with shared opinions because someone said something is only going to make the staff shit. This isnt directed to anyone specifically, but this goes for any OTHER member who is getting treated the same way. We know what we have done, and we dont need mods we dont even know to judge from what they hear. (God I sound like an emotional teenager seeing a double rainbow).
-Dont get into shit that has nothing to do with you. This goes for members, and staff. Be honest here. If there was a guy and a girl having troubles in their relationship at your school, would you step in and take sides? No. because if you did you would get the other half hating you, so really dont do that on NGU. Everyone here has atleast one friend who has friends etc etc. Its only making NGU a shithole by people getting/starting shit.
-As once discussed, the asskissing, Gobble cleared that up but I tried telling him that an admin reacting like that might not be the smartest move, but its his choice and he is the admin, so I have no control over what happens. Thanks for clearing it up Gobz.
-Be more open to suggestions. Simple as that

Some of the times I can see that people who are popular are usually very helpful, but in all reality there are people who deserve it WAY more and try WAY harder (Paul is a perfect example.. had barely any posts but worked his ass off). You should also make some new requirements for staff positions, but at the same time be more open. If you guys can understand that, believe me rages wont happen on promotion days.
-Now to stop complaining. I like what you guys did with the Auctions forum. Expanding like that is a big win, and will profit alot, maybe beta that with other sections?

Another thing is moderators have to be like cops. What I mean by this is that if they get called a name or anything like that they can't just go infract the person, that is just abusing your power.. That is the same as a cop because I mean if somebody calls them a name or does something they don't like they can't just go throw them in jail. The reason I bring this up is I have seen infractions getting reversed due to the fact that a rule wasn't broken and the moderator was just getting even I might say.
Again, I didnt mean this to be a rant and in no way in my opinion is it a rant. Its just a general discussion topic. Now why is it General Discussion? I want to hear YOUR ideas for the NGU 2011 year. What could make it better? Whats bad about it right now?

I also think members should be respecting the mods a bit more. Also!! I like alot of the staff here but it just annoys me that whenever you go in the SB you are kinda shunned upon because you aren't in there 24/7 and you're not in their posse

This site really has not made any changes since I got here a year ago except that there has been more leechers and lots of staff changes. This site needs to start upgrading, and we all know it. Another thing the admins should do is consider more site suggestions. Very rarely do you see any suggestions passing, and a lot of times there are some good suggestions that go unnoticed/rejected for a dumb reason. Also, I think that they should re-evaulate the way scammers are disciplined. If you're convicted of scamming, you should either A) be permabanned or B) be permanently banned from the auction section if it was a minor offense. For the moderators, I think they need to be willing to change a little bit. I dont think they should be closing a thread just because it was bumped 1 time or because a little flame war started. Just delete the flame comments and leave the thread open. Over-modding has been a bit of a problem lately.

Everyone should get a clean slate, I seem to get on with most if not all members and staff. That is how it should be for everyone. I think if you have a dispute with someone or you just don't like them in 2011 on NGU you should out it behind you as we can't keep living in the dark or we will never move forward.

Idk if we have this already but we should have like a Member of the Year awards and a Staff of the Year awards, and have like different type of catergorized awards (most helpful, funniest, best member etc...)

-As once discussed, the asskissing, Gobble cleared that up but I tried telling him that an admin reacting like that might not be the smartest move, but its his choice and he is the admin, so I have no control over what happens. Thanks for clearing it up Gobz.
-Be more open to suggestions. Simple as that
-I came back for the reason of missing the people I got close to over the years I have spent with NGU. When someone leaves for 3 months are you still honestly going to hold a grudge on them for TROLLING? 3 MONTHS YOU CAN CHANGE. Anyways my main point is to give people a second chance.
-More Staff? Well I recently just seen that 3 admins retired/got demoted. So I know this may or may not be necessary but people need to get promoted to higher spots.
-READ THIS: Promotions should NOT be based on popularity. Some of the times I can see that people who are popular are usually very helpful, but in all reality there are people who deserve it WAY more and try WAY harder (Paul is a perfect example.. had barely any posts but worked his ass off). You should also make some new requirements for staff positions, but at the same time be more open. If you guys can understand that, believe me rages wont happen on promotion days.
-Now to stop complaining. I like what you guys did with the Auctions forum. Expanding like that is a big win, and will profit alot, maybe beta that with other sections?
Again, I didnt mean this to be a rant and in no way in my opinion is it a rant. Its just a general discussion topic. Now why is it General Discussion? I want to hear YOUR ideas for the NGU 2011 year. What could make it better? Whats bad about it right now?

-I know staff hate me, and some of them have a reason. But really the ones that dont know me, or I have never pissed off (I dont think) shouldnt go along with the other staff. They need their OWN opinions, with shared opinions because someone said something is only going to make the staff shit. This isnt directed to anyone specifically, but this goes for any OTHER member who is getting treated the same way. We know what we have done, and we dont need mods we dont even know to judge from what they hear. (God I sound like an emotional teenager seeing a double rainbow).

If there was a guy and a girl having troubles in their relationship at your school, would you step in and take sides? No. because if you did you would get the other half hating you, so really dont do that on NGU. Also!! I like alot of the staff here but it just annoys me that whenever you go in the SB you are kinda shunned upon because you aren't in there 24/7 and you're not in their posse

Alright here it goes, Im going to divide it into 2 parts- the regular community and the staff.
I think the regular community (us premiums and non-prems) should not be so hard on the mods ALL the time. I think its fine to complain about them sometimes, but the general community needs to not complain about them so much. Im going to TRY and be nicer to all the staff in 2011. They are all human too and make mistakes. And yeah this probably doesnt mean much coming from a guy who got infracted within the last week for insulting staff, but whatever. Also, I think the general community needs to worry less about reputation. Rep starts so many arguments on this site it's unbelievable. We shoudnt take rep so seriously. We should treat it as a nice feature of the forums, but not the only thing that matters. Another problem is asskissing. A lot of members do suck up to the mods and it's pretty obvious. It also angers the others that dont like to be suck ups. We all know people on this site that suck up to try and get a mod spot. My suggestion to those that asskiss all the time: stop. You can still have a chance at a spot on staff but you dont have to asskiss. I think if the general community treated mods just like regular members without sucking up to them, then this forum would be a lot nicer place.
Now for the second part- the staff. In 2011, I think the admins REALLY need to start making progress on the site (homepage etc...). This site really has not made any changes since I got here a year ago except that there has been more leechers and lots of staff changes. This site needs to start upgrading, and we all know it. Another thing the admins should do is consider more site suggestions. Very rarely do you see any suggestions passing, and a lot of times there are some good suggestions that go unnoticed/rejected for a dumb reason. Also, I think that they should re-evaulate the way scammers are disciplined. If you're convicted of scamming, you should either A) be permabanned or B) be permanently banned from the auction section if it was a minor offense. For the moderators, I think they need to be willing to change a little bit. I dont think they should be closing a thread just because it was bumped 1 time or because a little flame war started. Just delete the flame comments and leave the thread open. Over-modding has been a bit of a problem lately.
