(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I constantly hear people berating Pokemon games because they're for kids, or they're nerdy, or they're lame. And I want to know, what do the inhabitants of NGU think? (When I say Pokemon games, I mean Pokemon RBY, GSC, RSE, FrLg, DPP, HgSs, and BW.) When you post, please post your reasoning for it. Elaborate if possible, remember, this is a DEBATE! Cool Man (aka Tustin)

As for my personal feelings on the matter:
I personally do not think Pokemon games are "lame." I'm not really an avid fan of the genre, I used to be, but I cut back quite a bit over the past 4 or so years and recently picked up Soul Silver (what a rush of nostalgia!).

While I do feel that the concept has been beaten with a stick repeatedly, I generally kept a pattern of getting at least 1 game per generation and find myself truly enjoying the games. I couldn't name more than maybe 10 fourth generation Pokemon off the top of my head, but I'm not going to say that the fourth generation was retarded.

The concept of Pokemon remains strong, and that is that you amass creatures with wondrous powers and make them do battle, and it effectively turns into a complicated, glorified version of Rock, Paper, Scissors. There's also the fact that it's accessible to people of all ages and can be played even by those who don't know how to read. It's a classic RPG series and is not one to be dismissed as childish, nerdy, and/or lame.

Pokemon is serious business :mudkip:

Could you please elaborate?

I always hear people saying that Pokemon sucks and whatnot, but I have never heard anyone come up with a good reason. What is your reasoning?

The pokémon games are amazing and addictive, they definatly aren't lame, i'm 22 and i still play them, they are amazing games to take on holiday if your bored on the plane or need some fun time after a long day at the pool, plus with the link up and battle your friends system it has its addictive getting your favourite pokemon high enough to whip your opponents butt.

Those people who say its for kids clearly have never played the game, if you did you'll find that its only kid orientated because its based from a cartoon, however the complexity of the moves and skills you can get is beyond childish. Sure any kid can jump in and play no problem, and level up their pokemon and give it whatever moves they want, but in battle they'd get raped by someone who actually knew the moves and what they did, the combos you can use with moves is probably more than a child could figure out, for example:

theres a move that puts your opponent to sleep, and a move that stops your opponent swapping pokemon in battle. theres also a move that kills both pokemon thats currently battling in 3 turns (perish song). if you switch out your pokemon before the 3 turns are over, your next pokemon doesn't suffer from the curse. so you firstly use the move to stop your opponent switching, then use the perish song, then put your opponents pokemon to sleep then switch out and BAM any pokemon thats tougher than you is dead. plus works well if your pokemon is ghost type so it cant be hit by most moves anyway.

theres complexity in the game believe me.

Oh and for the record, i have a friend aged 28 who buys every pokemon game that comes out because shes addicted to it.
