Okay, so before I go on a rant I'm going to (try to) calmly say what makes YouTube suck now to the average user- then explain how YouTube screwed me out of several hundred dollars.

So first off, why YouTube sucks(when compared to how it was before Google got involved):
- The design of the channels on YouTube was changed sometime last year, and brought along a ****-load of bugs with it. Whilst the design itself wasn't all that bad, the bugs often made YouTube unusable and some of them still aren't fixed... which brings me onto my next point.
- Bugs. How is it Google manages to create 5 new bugs everytime they fix just 1 problem or change 1 feature? It's f*cking unbelievable.
- Several new home-pages, the current one being the worst of the lot. Why the f*ck has everybody been getting less and less views on their videos lately? Because of this stupid design that clogs up all of your subscription uploads! That's why! The worst part is however they won't even give us an option to change back, despite thousands and thousands of messages clogging up their blog and facebook page begging for them to undo the mess they have made.
- Ads. Remember there used to be so few ads, even on partner videos? Now it's hard to find a video of any nature without an ad, nice job putting profit ahead of the people making you all your money Google :y:
- BS flagging system. Many of you will already know how exploitable this is, and I've seen several mass flagging bots being sold around the forums, proving it works very well- actually too well. Any non-partner video can be taken down with a few BS flags, meaning if someone has it in for you you're f*cked. This also brings me onto my short story from this morning...


So I wake up, normal day, and I sign-in to my old YouTube- the one with the modding videos featuring hunter from before the jailbreak was even possible. Then I see a notice at the top, saying my MW2 Mods video of over 300,000 views has been mass-flagged under "scamming" and removed from YouTube.
I understand why YouTube might classify it as scamming with a sharecash link in the description, but if they actually cared to try it out themselves they'd see they do actually get a full tutorial on jailbreaking and modding CoD, I believe I copy/pasted Juddy's tutorial p) into a .txt file for the download.
But yeah, that doesn't sound so bad. It will now. The past 29 days alone I have made over $500 from that video, which for someone of 15 years of age and in a bad financial situation is a ****-load of money, especially for sitting on my ass all day. And who knows how much more money I could have made? Certainly at least another $500 over the coming weeks/months, and that's at a bare minimum.

So yeah, YouTube just screwed me out of hundreds of dollars. I have appealed the decision to have it removed, status is pending. But knowing YouTube's terrible support I have little hope.

They have ads because they want to make a ****-load of money off of us that we don't have ourselves, is it that hard to understand?

You like the conten, not youtube itself, RWJ could be on any Vid Sharing site and you would still watch it

If you watched one of OutBackZack's video, it's funny. But one thing I ****ing hate the most is "(User) liked this video, I don't even know this dude and whenever I watch a video, it's still in that little box "(user) uploaded a video" and finding my inbox....I hate it, I'm to lazy to scroll to my name and go to inbox, I liked the other one better, the non-lazy thingy. The ads, they only appear on music channel like Vevo, Vevo is ****ed up, and also ministry of sounds. My video was claimed copyrighted by Ministry of Sounds just because I uploaded a preview of a song, I thought youtube was a ****ing site that lets you upload your own video for fun. **** Vevo

Ads also show on all partner videos, and all videos which are using copyrighted audio content- whether it is VEVO, WMG or any other some form of ad will always appear.

Update- so YouTube rejected my appeal to have the mods video re-instated.

The video was not breaking ToS, and it was certainly not illegal in any way, so I've come to the conclusion that Sony is now paying them to remove all heavily-viewed videos linked in some way to jailbreaking. Sucks, I know.

Sony have officially lost all my support for their next system, and YouTube. Well, let's just say once a new video hosting site finally emerges that is exactly how YouTube was 3 years ago then I'm jumping ship. F-U Sony, and F-U Google.
