(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Discuss whether you believe that all life evolved from simple organisms in the primordial soup or whether you think that all animals were put on this planet individually. (Either by God or any other reason.)

I, personally, believe in evolution. There's so much evidence to support it, yet there is a small amount of evidence that could be used to discredit it. But evolution makes so much sense!

Except intelligent design isn't a scientific theory no matter how one looks at it. It basically says "oh look, there's some holes in evolution. Let's fill those in by making shit up with no evidence."

I think there needs to be a distinction between religion and science, mixing them up just causes confusion.

I'm not trying to turn this religion way, I'm trying to avoid it as best I can. However, I see ID as the only other "theory" that is out there. So if we're not debating that then we're debating nothing.

So you are saying that we evolved from fishes to monkey now humans. Is there a final stage or are you going to keep evolving.
God makes way more sense

We didn't evolve from fish to monkeys to humans. This is a common misconception with evolution. The first life forms were probably only one cell in size, and over time grew bigger. As life evolved, it deviated into separate evolutionary paths, depending on various environmental factors. The idea of us evolving from fish comes from the idea that water covered way more of the earth than it does now. Most creatures would have to be water creatures, or fish.

When the water level fell, the fishes' evolution started to show some deviation, some species starting to grow legs, and then probably the next types of creatures that the fish would have evolved into would be reptiles and amphibians, then from there into birds and mammals, then each branch split into many different variations, such as canines, felines, primates, etc. The primates then split into a few main evolutionary paths, one of which led to the modern human. Another led to the modern monkey. We did not come from the modern monkey or the modern fish. We share evolutionary ancestors.

It makes perfect sense. And to answer your question, of course humans will evolve, provided we don't kill ourselves off. There was something that Shepleklet posted a while ago that presents a pretty convincing idea of what we will eventually evolve into, it's called "Talking to God..." by the Ragged Trousered Philosopher. It's a lengthy read, but definitely interesting. It's fiction, of course, but it's a fairly plausible situation. If I believed in God, I'd say that how the article describes him would be the most reasonable line of thought.

If you've got time, give it a read. I found it thoroughly interesting.

Primordial soup.

When i look at The AP i see how animals evolve defense mechanisms like camouflage , poison, ECT compared to maybe a hundred years ago when they were straight victims.

One of the evolution that impress me yet are so simple are polar bears and how they turned completely white.

I just cant wait until we evolve somemore.I heard soon ppl arent gonna b born with pinky toes.

For all we know we could evolve down multiple paths, deviating on either side of the earth.

As for what we would drop, I'd think we'd drop the appendix, as it's pretty much useless now, probably the pinky toe (my toes are ****ed up from wearing shoes that are too small, my pinky toes barely touch the ground when I'm barefoot, yet I can walk fine. I think they can go), or maybe arm/leg hair.

Obviously we will change in some way. However, has the intelligence of man removed us from the evolutionary "cycle". If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. We've removed ourselves so much from nature that even the weakest of people can survive pretty easily. Even things like mutations wouldn't really effect the way that we live our lives. We're so dependent on machines to keep us going, that the human body is pretty much playing second fiddle.

As such, our bodies will adapt to our environment. If we no longer need survival skills, we'll be getting weaker over time. On the flipside, we would probably also become smarter, as that is what most high paying jobs in this society require.

We're debating the validity of evolution. Just because one denies evolution doesn't mean they have to believe religion. Just because one is religious doesn't mean they must deny evolution. It's not an either or kind of thing.
