Battlefield 3 needs to be "a better shooter" in order to dethrone Call of Duty from its FPS throne, says EA senior gamplay designer Alan Kertz.

If you have been active on twitter you may have seen him replying to some of the questions he has been asked, the main thing he stated in his replies were "You don't kill COD by trying to be COD. You kill COD by making a better shooter."

He also promised there has been a massive improvement in graphics and the DICE team have gone into more depth. "BF3 will be deeper than BF2, we've paid a lot of attention to keeping depth while pacing the learning curve." Its obvious that the team at DICE really want to become the king of FPS (First Person Shooters), this new Battlefield installment will be a big improvement over the passed and they have promised it will be.

After being asked about the new Call of Duty DLC (Downloadable Content) he replied "BF3 is the sequel to BF2. It's not BC3. No, grappling hook and zipline are not in the plan." Showing us they want nothing to do with Treyarch and want to crush there reign as leaders.

What do you guys think?

I think Call of duty was the worst thing to happen to the gaming industry as a whole. To be honest I have only 7 games:

>COD 4
>COD WAW
>COD Mw2
>COD BO (Which I am now banned at)
>AC: 1,2 and 3 (I'm one of the few who bought the first game at the start of the saga)

And I have no intention of buying any new games except for the next game in the call of duty series. I heard actually a rumour that they were considering taking call of duty off the shelves because ever other game and brand was doing so terrible.

This is a great post :y: keep up the good work

For me, Cod has died all togethor. Anything is better than Cod, shit i play Socom Confrontation more than anything now. Cod 4 was my all time favourite game and now i cant even play that because of this bullshit modded lobby crap. BO was good for about a month, til the lag, disconnects and the de-ranking just got unbearable. Battlefield is definately the way forward for me...

The fact that Battlefield is un-biased towards its Downloadable content, i think i may switch.

You're right mate. Probably because they arent trying to leech every single penny out of every single persons pocket. I bought BC2 with a vip code which cost me £52 and gives me access to all new VIP maps for FREE! They're on map pack 7 now i believe? That alone makes me go back to BC2 over and over and over, it never gets boring.

Who dares, wins.
Battlefield games will always be better than Call of Duty in my opinion.

Find me on Steam.
Its about time someone pushes CoD out the way, MoH tried and failed, I hope this succeeds, I'm sick of seeing atleast 1 new CoD out every year, with them promising it will be different and then in the end its pretty much the same as the last. Saying that, I wont be buying this at launch, I'm wait 1 or 2 weeks, cus then the price goes down by 50% in a store in the UK. ~.~ I do hope its a brilliant game tho.

Zavvi, I bought Medal of Honour a few days after its release, and the next day before it had even arrived at my house, it was down from £40 to £17.95 :(
