The quite incredible claim that video games are somehow to blame for an increase in rape has been proffered by a prominent US TV psychologist and author.
Carol[e] Lieberman told Fox News that interactive entertainment was "in large part" directly responsible for a recent surge in sexual violence."
The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games," she is quoted as saying, without offering a droplet of evidence whatsoever.
Her shock claim arrives in a Fox News piece examining the mature themes of People Can Fly's upcoming FPS Bulletstorm. Its title? "Is Bulletstorm the Worst Video Game in the World?"
In it, Fox News claims that the 'worst part' of Bulletstorm (also possibly the 'worst game', remember) is its in-game reward system, Skillshots.
Dr. Jerry Weichman, a clinical psychologist at the Hoag Neurosciences Institute in Southern California, told Fox: "If a younger kid experiences Bulletstorm's explicit language and violence, the damage could be significant... Violent video games like Bulletstorm have the potential to send the message that violence and insults with sexual innuendos are the way to handle disputes and problems."

My Thoughts:
I kind of see where she is coming from, with games such as GTA, but this is still an outrageous claim to be making. Most people know that video games are fake and it should end as that. They're fun to play and are a way to pass the time, and that's basically it.
Plus, if she can't back it up with any real evidence, what are we supposed to believe from her?

So what do you guys think? Are video games related to acts of violence, both physical and sexual? Or is this just a load of bullshit? :bro:

You could back up this claim if you refered to japanese eroge games those usually have sex scenes in them and rape scenes. American games usually never have sex scenes and certanly not rape scenes. If you're interested and want to see for you self play Saya no Uta I would post some screenshots from the game but I would get banned from this site for posting adult content.

Another "Expert" from FOX and she can **** off what Bulletstrom have to do with raping, when there's no sex scenes or anything sadistical in that game. FOX did it again; failed

If you really are interested I'll PM you a link to a site with all the screenshots also the game is a japanese anime visual novel in otherwords a book with pictures and choices but it's classed as a game but westerners would not class it as a game. I certanly wouldn't call it a if it came out at my local store.

What's funny is violence and offensive language are things that can be found in real life. On a video game, you know it's a game and can let out your frustrations in pwning bitches.

Daddy's home.
They can't blame video games. Blame parents. The games go through certification to get an age limit on them, meaning that the games that have sex in them will be 18+, not 3+. The game companies are following the rules. Now the game shops have to ask for ID if you look under the age of the game. Granted not all of them will but most do, so the game shops are following the law. However, who buys these games for the little kiddies under the age limit of the game? Parents. Why do they always blame games for shit? They have age limits on them, so they are not in the wrong.
