Dubstep is a type (genre) of dance music that originated in South East London in the early 2000's. Its main sound is a wobble bass with other things like drum kicks, synths and occasional vocals

Dubstep was located in Jamaican dub music and soundsystem cultures. Jamaican soundsystems were large mobile hi-fi or disco with an emphasis on the reproduction of bass frequencies, its own aesthetics and a unique mode of consumption.

One characteristic of certain strands of dubstep is the wobble bass, where an extended bass note is manipulated rhythmically. This style of bass is typically produced by using a low frequency oscillator to manipulate certain parameters of a synthesizer such as volume, distortion or filter cutoff. This is how i actually 1st started listening to dubstep. One afternoon i was really bored so i decided i might play some music. I went on to windows media player and searched up dubstep. I used a channel called Audiocream.

How to use Audiocream

Internet Method:

1. Open up your Internet Browser.
2. Open up favourites and go to "Radio Station Guide".
3. Go to "Search More radio Stations" and type in dubstep above the "select genre" box.
4. Find the search result that says Audiocream and click Listen. Windows Media Player should now open.

Windows Media Player method:

1. Open up Windows Media Player.
2. Go to the tab that says "Media Guide".
3. Go to Internet Radio.
4. Follow through steps 3 & 4 from other guide.

There are a few radio stations on the Iphone store. I think they are really good.

Also, if you are using an internet radio station that doesnt show the song name, use the Ipod app "MusicID" to find out what it's called. It doesnt always work.

Google

Google is the easiest way to find dubstep. Try searching with terms like "Filthy dubstep" or things like that, it'll get you a fair few good results. Also, use advanced search to narrow it down so you get rid of unneccesary search results.

You will need to pick which software you will need. I would suggest using FL Studio if you're a begginer, then move on to some advanced software. Also, alot of people use the NI Massive plugin. 





NI Massive is a very useful preset, but I like to call it “The Easy Way Out” As it’s easy to make dubstep with it. Also, if you want the full program for free, contact me before installing it and I will provide you with a patch and some information on how to install it.

Here is a basic dubstep tutorial using 3xOsc. 3xOsc comes with FL Studio when you get it.

How to use Audiocream

Internet Method:

1. Open up your Internet Browser.
2. Open up favourites and go to "Radio Station Guide".
3. Go to "Search More radio Stations" and type in dubstep above the "select genre" box.
4. Find the search result that says Audiocream and click Listen. Windows Media Player should now open.

Windows Media Player method:

1. Open up Windows Media Player.
2. Go to the tab that says "Media Guide".
3. Go to Internet Radio.
4. Follow through steps 3 & 4 from other guide.

There are a few radio stations on the Iphone store. I think they are really good.

Also, if you are using an internet radio station that doesnt show the song name, use the Ipod app "MusicID" to find out what it's called. It doesnt always work.

Google is the easiest way to find dubstep. Try searching with terms like "Filthy dubstep" or things like that, it'll get you a fair few good results. Also, use advanced search to narrow it down so you get rid of unneccesary search results.

You will need to pick which software you will need. I would suggest using FL Studio if you're a begginer, then move on to some advanced software. Also, alot of people use the NI Massive plugin. It is very useful but wont get you very far in the future. FL Studio isnt free, but you should be able to find it in premium. Also, NI Massive is also there too.
