I'm with him, except with the adultery part.. and the halo, and the wings.

There's proof and a lot of it. Go ahead and read some of these sites and try and prove it wrong and all that jazz, but I really don't keep posting on this subject. There's just as many of those science FTW sites as there are sites proving that the Bible is true.

II The Bibles Reliability - Trustworthiness
Bibliographical Test for Reliability

Since we do not have the original documents, how reliable are the copies we do have in regard to he number of manuscripts and the time interval between the original and the extant (earliest) copy.

New Testament over 24,000 MSS & portions in existence today.

The Iliad by Homer a close second with 643 MSS.

Old Testament - 40 kings mentioned in chronological order

Kings of same country with respect to Kings of other countries

No stronger evidence for the substantial accuracy of the O.T. than this collection of kings.

Math one chance in 750,000,000,00,000,000,000,000 that this accuracy is mere circumstance.

Discovery of Dead Sea scroll put the death clamp on almost all critics. 40,000 inscribed fragments of which 500 books reconstructed. Found in 1947.

I still personally believe that there IS enough evidence out there for me to have this faith. Aside from going to heaven, I believe that what the Bible encourages is a better and healthier lifestyle that I want to live.

Like I said though: you can write a story which is completely chronologically accurate and has actual locations without having the main plot be. I could write a story which encompasses the presidency of every single one of the US presidents in order, and tells about places like lake Michigan..... but the plot of my story is giant killer bananas.

btw, i can throw out links too.

Yes you can write that plot. But are 10s of thousands of people gonna write the same thing?? Look at the links, there is other proof out there. You wanted some proof I gave you some.

I read the links...

first of all, 10's of thousands? the bible has 40 authors... which is surprisingly easy to explain via tales derived from the ancient egyptian religion. if i made up that story about the banana and got a bunch of people to re-tell it, it would eventually spread across a large distance. especially if i got people to believe it as fact first.

secondly i still fail to see anything verifying large claims such as the earth being made in 6 days, the universe being 6,000 years old, god sending himself who is also his own son to die for a cause which he was instigated by his own creation of mud-men and rib-women (even though it was completely unnecessary seeing how he has infinite power). all you've proven is the setting's accuracy; which i completely agree with.

Did you even see this video?

(all three)

They explain very well why 10s of thousands of people write about the same thing. And the ditto elfmotat, the bible has less than 50 authors. Other people who didnt write about the bible write and say how "God is so great" because they think they will get to heaven and not burn in hell for eternity if they do.

So 20,000 people just all decide to write about some Egyptian story all within the same year. These people scattered around.
