if the people were so scattered, that only lends to my point. if events occur, it takes YEARS for that info to spread even a hundred miles in that time period. info was carried by word of mouth. it's illogical to think these events could have spread that fast. If, however, they had a main focal point from roughly 1000 years before hand, the information easily could have reached all of the encompassed.

For everyone in here throwing out "proof", just remember you can find whatever proof your looking for no matter what.
