Personally I go with mortal kombat just because its not so cartoony. Street fighter is very balanced and great for tournaments but mortal kombat is so gory and fun to pick up and play. Fatalitys and the promoves are the reason I love the game. They are also the only fighting frantrise that accually trys to have a story and stick with it. I will buy mortal kombat 9 first day. When mortal kombat vs street fighter comes out, it will be epic and I hope street fighter is the guest game so it does look like a cartoon and fatalits are just as epic.

-positve: fatalitys, kombos look and feel spectaular, has a story, characters more appealing, blood, adult feel
-can sometimes feel unbalanced

Street Fighter. Something about Mortal kombat I just don't really like. I think the game just tries to take it self too seriously. Also I grew up watching the street fighter cartoon so that could be why.
