A combination of poor pay, and danger.
Its funny that many of them have had TV shows done on them and I thought a few paid better than shown.
That guy with the show " The dirtiest Jobs " has a few of these beat.
I guess the lesson is go to college, get a bunch of loans, and stay broke for tens years paying them off??

I agree, but they're on-call 24 hours a day, (EMT) and workdays can be very exhausting, just becouse you work 24 hours nonstop and you will sleep next day. My brother said (he's a fireman) that you have one day work and three days rest, I don't know if it's same for EMT, but I guess so.
I think janitor in porn theater would be worst, becouse of sticky substance under chairs.
