How everybody is talking, they don't understand how it works.

Even if you are convicted as an adult, they don't send you straight to prison. You are kept in a Juvenile Detention Center until the day you turn 18, then they slam you right up in a nice cell at your state prison. Keep in mind, I've been to JDC, and I've also been to Jail. Jail being different than prison, but same concept none-the-less. Jail is nothing even remotely close to prison, and hell, it's a bit more homey than some JDC centers even. JDC though has those basic things that people love. Internet access, and so on. Of course, it's all monitored, but with a job watching kid's watch porn, who the hell cares what you do on there.

Also, kids raping other kids isn't headline news unless it's some huge figure in society or the people flip out or whatever. If it's a small town, then it's whatever.

But back on track here. So what, what's the worst? He'll get convicted, have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, and then live three or four years in JDC. Trust me, the kid isn't going to the slammer at that age. It'd be impossible. Even if he's convicted as an adult, that just means he gets the sentencing associated with an adult. They won't do that to him. He'll get half of what adults get for rape, and then statistically, you only serve 40% of your actual sentence, so on average, adults get 15 years for rape? divide by two, 7.5 years, and then 40% of that, you're looking at a nice 3 years. He'll be out before he even smells a prison.

Also, JDC ain't shit. I'll tell you guys that right now. You're more likely to find a deranged twelve year old locked up by his parents than you are to find a hardened seventeen year old who rapes little boys.

On the note of rape. That cliche about them living the rest of their life like that is a bit overblown. I'm not going to speak for all rape victims as I'm sure a lot of them are scarred, but I know four personally. One girl was drunk and was raped by her best friend, another one was raped at the age of twelve by some forty year old prick who is now in prison for it, and the other two were just drunk and pretty much had it coming for them. Out of the four, only one actually pressed charges. The other three admit that they had it coming to them, and out of the four, none of them say that they even think about it unless someone brings it up. It's a really bad crime none-the-less, and it definitely ranks right under murder in my case as well.
