It doesn't bother me that much. I don't say the pledge anyways because I don't believe in it.

Students are practically brainwashed into saying the pledge. They are taught what it means, but there's no way that kids in 2nd grade are going to fully understand it. You HAVE to say it when you're little because in Kindergarten you're graded on it (at least I was).

I don't know, I can't pick anything out of it that seems malicious, but something about how early it's taught just feels wrong.

I think it should be in there because like Omniplasma said you dont have to say the pledge or that part of it. Also if that was taken out we would have to change all of our money because it says in God we Trust

That's sad to think that we are removing God from every aspect of our lives. In my personal opinion, it should not be.
Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

I am an atheist. God is meant to be a part of your private life. Other wise how is this different than forcing your opinion on others?

Yea you have to say it as a kid and you learn it. Ridiculous considering this pledge wasn't finalized until 1956.

In Kindergarten you learn to and must say the pledge. I want to be able to say it, just without religious BS involved.

Which is fine and dandy and all, but we live in a country where the majority believes in God. Removing God from the pledge or from money would just cause chaos. Going out of the way to attempt to remove that is just as wrong as going out of the way to put it in in the first place.

I understand that it bugs you, but by making a big deal about it being there, you're being no better than the religious nuts that put it there in the first place. If you don't like saying it, then just leave that part out. There's no need to make a fuss over it. That'd be like if I decided to make a motion to get the pledge removed altogether. I think the pledge is bullcrap, but it makes people feel better and doesn't hurt anyone - there's no reason to remove it.

Let them have their way, and you can live with the satisfaction of knowing you're right.

The cow... She go moo
In my opinion, people should stop bitching about it. XD Either say it or don't. It's as simple as that.

If you don't like to say the pledge, you are not forced to. Just sit quietly at your desk and no one should say anything to you. If they do, just say, "I don't believe in god, therefor I don't say the pledge of allegiance."

Or you just don't have to pronounce the "under God" part. Saying the pledge says you honor those who have served your country, and you appreciate being able to wake up in a free country every morning.
