Hey mate, what you will find with sites like this and madbid.com is that they make their money through a very sneaky way. :shh:
They are politically correct in saying that people buy let's say an Apple Macbook for an example price of £5. However, this isn't the only money they get in.
When I was a lot younger I came across one of these sites. It has changed it's domain since then, but I think the functionality is still the same. This is how it used to work:
Each time you bid, it costs you £0.07, and the highest bid also goes up £0.07.
This means that you may be in a battle for a laptop, and eventually you win it for £100 (a great bargain as it's RRP is £400)
However, if you were in a battle with 3 people to buy it, this means 1/3 of the bids came from you.
That's £33 worth of bids, meaning you spent that much on bids.
This may seem all well, I mean, you got your laptop for just £133 altogether, and that is fine - so long as you win.
Remember, for the people who won, there are also many others who lose. This stuff is like gambling. If one contestant for the prize had spent £20 on bids, they are not going to just quit like that. They will be determined to win their laptop.
This can often lead to things being sold for up to 200% what they are worth in the shops, because of people's sheer determination.
My advice would be to stay away, although some people do sometimes get lucky bargains. However, if you are planning to go into this, I would recommend doing these things:
1. Use madbid.com instead of quibid.com. I have seen adverts from them on the TV, which means that they can probably be trusted more.
2. Only bid when the item is 3 seconds away from ending. If you have played Fifa Ultimate Team, the bidding is like that. Once you get 15 seconds to the end of bidding, each time you bid the timer resets to 15 seconds. Wait for others to bid first, and then when it looks like they have given in, you put your bid in, meaning you spend less money on bids.
3. Bid at obscure times of the day. I would say 3am-7am is the best time to grab a bargain, as there is less competition for the item.
Anyway, I hope I helped a little, we don't want you losing all your money trying this!
