(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Private US company SpaceX hopes to put an astronaut on Mars within 10 to 20 years, the head of the firm said.

Okay, This really caught my eye here. A private US firm wants to put man on Mars in under 20 years. Its quite a shock to here this because Mars just after Earth in the Solar system, meaning its just under 1 Light year away.

People say in 2012, the Sun will over run the earth and destroy everything in its path. If we manage to get on Mars we will stay safe. But not all is true, because its target is set for 10 years, not 1.

SpaceX is one of the two leading private space companies in the United States and has won $75 million from the US space agency NASA to help its pursuit of developing a spacecraft to replace the space shuttle.

The Californian company last year completed its first successful test of an unmanned space capsule into orbit and back, which meant the plans could go ahead to put Man on Mars. If all this goes to plan in the real thing, It looks like we'll be able to travel to Mars without any problems. Of course, its only going to be open to the rich at the start. Most likely costing over $50,000 per seat easily.

SpaceX has made a massive jump in there technology, and supposedly made the worlds fastest and strongest rocket the 'Falcon Heavy', which will have its first demonstration flight at the end of 2012. The launcher is designed to lift into orbit satellites or spacecraft weighing more than 53 metric tons, or 117,000 pounds

Will Mars be our new future home?
Will we actually be there in 10 years?
Would you live there?

If you have ever seen the film '2012'

It cost 1 billion dollars to have a ticket for a boat.

Now, if humans every do set up life on mars, It wont be cheap.

I would think a ticket would be about 5 million pounds to get to mars

How do I become and astronaut? This would be epic to be the first man on Mars. **** the moon. This is very achievable seeing as though we can send unmanned things to Mars. However, it would also be very risky too. Like if the original space ship broke down on Mars, would the company spend billions to get the people back? It's OK with unmanned because they can leave them there, but when it's a human life, what would they do? How long would it take to get there though? Maybe they already have plans or are in progress to building a super speed ship.
