(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Adderall, as many know, is an ADHD medication which helps patients stay alert and awake and helps lessen ADHD symptoms. But now, Adderall has become a quite popular substance in Colleges and High Schools.

Adderall basically gives anybody that takes it an edge, where they can stay awake for days at the most, and the concentration levels of anybody who takes it is dramatically increased. This is what gives Adderall the nickname of "Academic Steroids". A recent study shows that people who use Adderall scored about 96% average on tests, but only about 84% when clean of the drug. Also, in Yale University, the SAT scores of kids who took Adderall the day or 2 before the tests scored, believe this, 500 points HIGHER than the average of those who do not take it.

Even though this drug gives people the ability to study for hours and hours at night on end, and even increase grades. It doesn't naturally make you smarter, it only increases your ability to concentrate and stay up, so yes it will make you smarter after about 4 hours if you study while on the drug. But there are negatives to this as well.

First off, Adderall is a Schedule 2 Drug, this means that this drug is about the same level and Cocaine and Meth-amphetamine. Also, even though some College students use it occasionally for a boost to write an essay or study for finals, some take an addiction to this drug, and an overdose can potentially lead to Cardiac Arrest or Heart Attack. Also, the "coming down" sucks ass, because your body finally notices how much sleep it hasn't gotten, so you feel shitty for a while after.

So what to you think about the use of Adderall or any other ADHD in schools? Would you consider this cheating? This has over the years become a huge issue throughout schools in the US, yet no one has spoken out on it yet.

Also, believe it or not, but some parents actually buy their kids these pills just so they do better in school!

What you think about all this?

It has side effects though, and some are bad depending on the person. My friend was in the bathroom for like an hour+ trying to take a shit.

No it's not cheating, simply.

And whilst we're on this subject why are exams etc all based on how good your memory is? Surely a full assessment of you as a person among other things(kinda like in the military) would be a lot more effective, and a lot less stressful..? Anyone agree?

Completely. Memory is pointless for the most part in testing. It is helpful for doctors. In Business, it is more about being able to adapt and knowing the basics. In investing, same as business. For teachers, it is about being able to teach the subject and well.

In a sense, it is short term memory.

Exactly, and my memory is complete and utter bollocks.

Anyone I know will tell you I'm good at debating because I'm good with words, will that come across in an exam? No.

I've also got common sense(something a lot of people lack), will that show itself in an exam? No.

Although in all fairness there are negatives such as I'm bad at talking to large crowds of people, but I'd want things like this to be known so my employer doesn't find out later on. Will that present itself in an exam? No.

All exams will do for me is show how rubbish my memory has become over the last few years, it bloody sucks :FU: And the same goes for everyone else, it's immensely unfair and quite frankly stupid.

I agree it needs to be redesigned.

How would we do that though?

Admittedly I don't know much about how it's done in the military but I know enough to know it's a better system than the one used around the world in education.

Someone needs to start a campaign for this in places like the US & UK etc, it would make the world so much better, no joke.

The Problem with school is it tests memory and determination. Determination does not work when you see books instead of what you wish to be doing. Maybe allow a chance to show you are determined in the field, or maybe performance.
