Post: What the United States should have done, to Japan. If a bomb had to have been dropped

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I personally feel sorrow for the Japanese civilizans at the end of World War II seeing as they weren't the bad guys in the war. Instead in my opinion if a bomb had to have been dropped, hit a military base first so it wouldn't have killed so many people, and also if the Japanese didn't surrender then drop the bomb on Hiroshima or Nagasaki.
90,000–166,000 killed in Hiroshima
60,000–80,000 killed in Nagasaki
The United States even gave Japan a few extra days to surrender, and they didn't listen so they dropped it on August 6th a day that the U.S changed to because of clouds perventing them from dropping it on the scheduled day. As many of you may know when Japanese children are born they are taught to never give up, I respect that. That's what hurt them at the end of WW2 they could have surrenderd but had to much pride in their country. Do you guys think the United States should have bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bombed a military base first and if they didn't surrender then attack civilians or just not even bombed them to keep WW2 going so more lives would have been lost?

Japan did this to themselves, they didn't have to bomb Pearl Harbor.

What made the US join ww2? Not the main thing but something that helped a lot. Think hawaii. Do you still think Japan wasn't the bad guy.

At the time people thought dropping the bomb was the only solution but now they realize how stupid it was :P

The Axis powers were the bad guys, but Japan did get what it deserved but there is a difference between civilian and military warfare.

RIP PICHU.
You do realize the Japs were ready to send 3 million soldiers at us on a suicide mission... We used the nuclear bomb to persuade them to reconsider and stop.

If we didn't, we would have had hundreds of thousands of Americans killed.

===

Basically they were given 2 options.

We go and fight them and not drop a nuke to persuade
Or keep dropping nukes to make them surrender... and if they didn't they would face total annihilation.

If they never backed down, we would have exterminated most of the Japanese people.

First atom bombing, okay.

Second one, not so much. The second atomic bomb was ordered by some low level military official. Well, not low level necessarily, but a lower ranking official who shouldn't be deciding things like that.
