Post: What the United States should have done, to Japan. If a bomb had to have been dropped

90,000–166,000 killed in Hiroshima
60,000–80,000 killed in Nagasaki
The United States even gave Japan a few extra days to surrender, and they didn't listen so they dropped it on August 6th a day that the U.S changed to because of clouds perventing them from dropping it on the scheduled day. As many of you may know when Japanese children are born they are taught to never give up, I respect that. That's what hurt them at the end of WW2 they could have surrenderd but had to much pride in their country. Do you guys think the United States should have bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bombed a military base first and if they didn't surrender then attack civilians or just not even bombed them to keep WW2 going so more lives would have been lost?

the bomb had to be dropped so that they would get it through their stubborn minds to stop fighting, and it was more cost effective to drop the bomb on them because they figured they would lose just as many american men through gun fights anyways if the fighting continued. If japan would have just smartened up and said okay we quit. They wouldn't have gotten ****ed so hard.

the U.S told the Japanese that we were going to bomb those cities and we told them that they has 2-3 days to get out. The president at the time Theodore Roosevelt decided to drop these bombs because the amount of lives that would have been lost in a full scale invasion would have cost millions of lives on both sides and would have lasted for perhaps an additional 10 years. This would have resulted in millions and millions of dollars of money lost to a very terrible war.
