(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); A Stanford University Geophysics Professor is of the opinion that there is a great likelihood of war between China and the US because of oil. Oil is key to progress, and as China is making progress on a huge scale with regard to commerce and industry, its need for oil is growing to the extent that it is currently competing for oil with the US. The US has been importing oil since 1971 and is currently importing two thirds of its oil from outside sources. Prof. Nur is of the opinion that this may be the main reason for the US involvement in Middle East wars, including lately Libya. He asks if Libya did not have any oil, would anyone have cared about Libya? And then concludes that tension in the Middle East will get worse with tension between super powers as well when they are competing for oil from this area.
If what the professor said is true, that would be an awful war :(

China won't invade the US because: 1. They don't have a very good military. 2. if they invaded trade would be cut off causing the Chinese economy to plummet and 3. China is also becoming more westernized and would probably not want to cut off contact with US.

Not too many people relize this but America has barley used it own oil resources and we have a few million barrels of oil stockpilled incase of war or disaster....

I disagree. In my opinion China is a much larger power in many ways. We may have a more advanced military, but China holds much business and is the main exporter to the US. China can get things done cheap. They have a far larger population as of 2010:
- China 1,339,724,852
- America 311,341,000

If China as of right now cut off all exports to the US and engaged in war we would be worrying for a number of reasons. War among superpowers is no longer the same. Nuclear weapons has forever changed that.

We have about at best 10 years of reserved oil. As for the resources it would take years to set up a drill, hire workers, etc...
