(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey I am currently in a predicament about what degree I should choose to study my two choices are computing and IT or law. My interest in computers is 100 times more than I have in law but I'm looking for something that will allow me to earn around 50k a year obviously not straight away but after like 4 years of working. My only reason for choosing law is the financially security that it offers but I'm not a very academic person I dropped out of school at 16 and has taken me 3 years to actually want to start doing something with my life.

Thanks in advance for the advice Smile

I get my JD in a few days, so if you want to choose law, go for a Bachelors in Government, or something similar.

The world will always need lawyers. :y:

As I'm sure people have already told you, pick something that you like. If you're into computers, go with I.T. We live in a system that creates wage slaves. The cyclical consumption that drives our economy invariably relies on debt to perpetuate itself. That's why so many people are forced into working at menial jobs they have no love for, cuz they'd be out on the street otherwise. Too many people work in 9 to 5 jobs they hate, simply to make ends meet, doing repetitive tasks over and over again they'd rather not do. Now, if you're lucky enough to have a choice in what field to go into, then the only variable that should matter is whether you're really interested in that field. Doing something you love 9 to 5 makes all the difference. Also, have you taken into consideration the implicit moral bankruptcy lawyers tend to develop in their job field? Financial security, yeah... but oftentimes it's for screwing over the opposition with more legal loop-holes, logical fallacies and biased arguments (you'd have to be if your client is the one paying you) than truth. I mean what is "truth"? It's what you can get the judge and jury to believe.
