(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey I am currently in a predicament about what degree I should choose to study my two choices are computing and IT or law. My interest in computers is 100 times more than I have in law but I'm looking for something that will allow me to earn around 50k a year obviously not straight away but after like 4 years of working. My only reason for choosing law is the financially security that it offers but I'm not a very academic person I dropped out of school at 16 and has taken me 3 years to actually want to start doing something with my life.

Thanks in advance for the advice Smile

I think you should do something you enjoy doing and if that's computing and it then so be it Smile Just my opinion but nevertheless law is still a good option.

Im about to go to college and do computing. I did considered law but I enjoy computers and I believe it applies to a wider range of jobs. Just do what you enjoy, hell you could do both but that maybe too much work.

If you're choosing a career doing something you don't like but earns a lot of money then you're wasting your life. You do what you're interested in doing and the opportunities to earn money will come you're way eventually. You just have to keep your eyes open.

Well if your going to do an IT degree, get a Computer Science degree. I am currently doing the same thing and I have to say besides the math, I love it. You will not just learn one language but understand computers from a different point of view. You also get to learn to program FPGA devices which could lead to programing such things as ATMs, and robots.

You should love computers before you delve into such a journey because if your not comfortable with a PC you will end up hating every minute. The only bad thing in this field is you will need to constantly get certifications because languages evolve over time and companies want to make sure your keeping up with it. Either way good luck man!

There will always be jobs in computing. I'd say go with that (especially because you're more interested in that) within the IT industry, the opportunity to move up the promotions path is already there.
Not to be mean, but if you're not academic, as you suggested, then there will always be a limit to where you can go when pursuing a career in law.

Go for the career you enjoy, NOT the one that pays more.
