A bit cliche but maybe a person who is Missing in action trys to get home so he has to like escape from where he is being held and try to escape the country while he is being hunted?

Maybe you can start with a guy involved on the last days of a war, in the middle of the battle on the ZERO ZONE, no sounds, one team expecting more battle, you need to infiltrate and be "the man" who solve the puzzle to make your nation win this war.... something with fps and tactics..

well you can put a man lost in the middle of the forest after a crash when he lost his family....with a few things to survive, you have to drive a path over to survive of the nature, find puzzles to solve and be granted to get more survival objects, its and old radio transmitter the unique form to make a signal for help....something like Resident Evil...
