yeah you can use the same history about two friends afetr crash they get on opposite sides of forest, jungle, etc. and they have just a few things to survive, they have to overpass the nature, animals, cliffs, and an unfriendly tribe to get back and try to escape from there

1. They could escape via the transmitter signal of the radio, be founded on the place the plane crashed.
2. they would find some weapons by doing it with the things they found on the quest, slingshot the first, they can found some more thing when they reach a lost and lone cabin with some shotguns and pistols and a sniper rifle too
3. the plane got crashed by fault of an explosive on the wing of the plane, this cause someone wanted one of those guy died on vengance

60 or so people crash in an Oceanic flight onto an unknown island. Some die, but others survive with only superficial injuries. They come to find out that there are people living on the island, let's call them "the others". Through a series of plot twists and rich character development the players will battle the others, time travel, lose kidneys and find out they're dead (amongst other things)

Shooting games (mw2, BO) are too common so I would take a different approach, Make it very realistic, not necessarily the graphics but don't have it like sonic the hedgehod.
I love westerns so if I was to make a game I would base it around Billie the Kid
My second choice would be something like Metal gear solid 2: Sons of liberity. My favourite game ever I used to play for hours and hours and never get bored soo yeah, Good luck keep us up to date on your progress
