(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); For those that don't know a heart murmur is an abnormal sound within your heart, although there is a big change of it not affecting you, it still needs to be checked out.

well as some of you know i have just joined the Royal Army i went along to my ADSC (2 day physical, medical and interview) and it took me 4 hours to get there by train, i arrived at 11 am and had a great start talking to everyone, me and a few lads discovered we were slightly colour blind but thats no biggy really.

We then changed rooms and the doctor came through cupped my balls and all that :L, she then proceeded to listen to my heart, she stood up and told me i had a heart murmur and i couldn't continue with my application into the army, i now have to travel to hospital on thursday to have my heart looked at.....by train and that trip is nearing 4 hours aswell, so not only were my dreams crushed but i was sent down to the train station and dumped there :( I was ok, I didn't cry because i knew there was a chance i could get this murmur sorted, but it kinda makes you feel like crap to know somethings wrong with the thing thats powering your entire body.

this thread is more of a rant than anything but thankyou for reading through this i'll let you know how i get on

Who is Stansy?
I have a heart murmur too. It doesn't affect me at all though, I still play hockey and live a pretty active lifestyle.
Don't let it worry you, and just be glad that they found it. Sometimes they go undiscovered until it's too late.

When i was born i had one too but it never went, when i was 5 i was in hospital as my heart got infected as i had a hole in a valve (less than 1mm) but after 1month in hospital i was ok to leave, then i was ok until i was 14 when it happened again and i was in hospital again all summer holidays so the doctors decided i needed heart surgery as it was more safe to have it then to not have it, i had the operation in February 2010 and was out of school for 10 weeks but for the 1st week i didnt have a shit at all... i also had a massive tube going through my stomach into my heart to pump out all the shit that was gathering around it after surgery. but im ok now and i have i massive scar down my chest like a " ! " I can post a picture if you want me to lol

Hey I have one too! I was diagnosed with it last year, it really doesn't effect me though, I can still place ice hockey at a varsity level, so keep your hopes up.

Sorry to hear about that. At least you've found out about it and can get it monitored before it seriously affected you.

If it were me, I would take this as a sign to not join the army. I would feel as though if my body wasn't made for it, I shouldn't do it. But that's just me.

I had to go for a medical exam before I could join the merchant navy funny thing was though the medical examination was a joke that practically gave you a certificate for pissing in a jar they don't check anything else couple of my mates had really thorough medical examinations and I got of with some well easy one ha ha for all I know I could have a heart problem or shit but this doctor doesn't even check for that lol.
