Regardless, Americans continue to live in fear of radical Islam and that fear has been spread by right wing Islamophobes. If someone follows the cable news networks, it seems that all terrorists are Muslims. It has become obvious in some circles to say: “Not all Muslims are terrorists, but nearly all terrorists are Muslims.”

But this perception is not reality. The data doesn't support that conclusion. According to this data, there were more Jewish acts of terrorism within the United States than Islamic (7% vs 6%). These radical Jews committed acts of terrorism in the name of their religion. These were not terrorists who happened to be Jews; rather, they were extremist Jews who committed acts of terrorism based on their religious passions, just like Al-Qaeda and company.

(Notice the difference in media between the two.) The reason that Muslim apologists cannot recall another non-Islamic act of terrorism other than Waco is because media gives menial coverage to such events. If a terrorist attack does not fit the “Islam is the perennial and existential threat of our times” narrative, it is simply not paid much attention to, which in a circuitous manner reinforces and “proves” the preconceived narrative. It is to such an extent that the average American cannot remember any Jewish or Latino terrorist; why should he when he has never even heard of the Jewish Defense League or the Ejercito Popular Boricua Macheteros?

The Islamophobes claim that Islam is intrinsically a terrorist religion. Just about every terrorist attack is Islamic, they say. And as we know, that isn't true. Using their defunct logic, these right wingers should now conclude that nearly all acts of terrorism are committed by Latinos.
They live in a fantasy world where everyone is supposedly too “politically correct” to criticize Islam and Muslims. Could you imagine the reaction if I said that Latinos should be profiled because after all they are the ones who commit the most terrorism in the country?

The moral of the story is that Americans should calm down when it comes to Islamic terrorism. Right wingers always live in fear or they try to make you feel that way. In fact, Pamela Geller (the queen of internet Islamophobia) literally said her mission was to: Don’t be fooled, most likely you don’t live in constant fear of radicalized Latinos, even though they commit seven times more acts of terrorism than Muslims in America. Why then are you wetting yourself over Islamic radicals? Nobody is saying that Islamic terrorism is not a matter of concern, but it’s grossly exaggerated.

Islamist terrorism is still perceived as being the biggest threat worldwide, despite the fact that the EU only faced one Islamist terrorist attack in 2008. This bomb attack took place in the UK…Separatist terrorism remains the terrorism area which affects the EU most. This includes Basque separatist terrorism in Spain and France, and Corsican terrorism in France…Past contacts between ETA and the FARC illustrate the fact that also separatist terrorist organizations seek cooperation partners outside the EU on the basis of common interests. In the UK, dissident Irish republican groups, principally the RIRA and the CIRA, and other paramilitary groups may continue to engage in crime and violence.

This terrible incident that took place in Norway should arouse everyone to think that not all terrorist are Muslims unlike right wing Islamophobes are claiming.

Well, thanks. I don't know about Matt, but JC is Latino and he found it as offensive against against Latinos, even thought I have nothing against them, I'm just bringing the facts.

Those statistics may well be true, however islamic terrorist cells are the ones who cause the most damage. Most major attacks in the last 10 years were caused by pissed off muslims.

Does anyone think that after (forget the guys name's) very emotional thread on animal cruelty threads like these are just copy cats and although the user may be touching up on a serious situation, they only see the reputation in it.
