(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); hey guys,

i have recently been looking to upgrade my crappy ps3 headset to a much better quality one...my search has narrowed me down to two specific headsets, the 1st being a turtle beach px21 and the second a turtle beach dpx21 which is a bit more pricey as it has 7.1 surround sound...i was wondering if anyone could recommend which one of these is worth getting...i haven't had a proper headset before so i don't know if the 7.1 surround sound is such a big deal to have...

advice will be much appreciated

While I cannot speak for or against the dxp21's I did own the px21's and found them to be great. I felt the sound quality was excellent and the microphone worked very well. I moved up to the px5's mostly for the wireless capabilities but would certainly recommend the px21's.

I recommend Tritton AX720 or Tritton AX Pro, since TB PX21 have broken twice for me.

thanks for replying mate...yeh i do hear good reviews for the px21's, but i was only considering the dpx21s because they come with the dolby surround sound attachment...do you find surround sound making a big difference? i live in australia you see and stores overprice their turtle beach products, i worked out that i would save $100 if i went for the dpx21 package....what do u think?

I have to admit that I personally felt there was a substantial difference between having the surround and not having it. The surround is awesome but you can't beat the value of the 21's. They sound GREAT for the money and had a lot more bass for the explosions, etc than my current set. As far as pricing goes, I'm not sure if you have it where you live, but amazon.com is awesome for stuff like this. I got my px5's for around 30 dollars cheaper than retail with free shipping.

I see that you're from Australia, so how about Australian Amazon? Price: 129.99$ You must login or register to view this content.

Sounds like a good idea, wish I could offer more info regarding the dx's but just haven't used them. But for the money it sounds like getting them off amazon will be the way to go. You can't go wrong with amazon and certainly can't go wrong with surround sound. I don't know a thing about the Tritons but that seems to be a good deal as well. I recommend doing a google search for reviews on each headset you are considering. I do that quite often when I'm torn between different products.
