(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'd like to get your guys' opinion on this. I was recently reading an article about the presidential candidates and I came across something pretty alarming to me. It seems as though all the candidates want to completely disregard a woman's right to choose, and abolish abortion. In fact, Newt Gingrich is going so far as saying he want embryos to have individual rights under the constitution, which would effectively make abortion unconstitutional.

I'd like your opinions in two parts. One on abortion itself and the second being about making embryos have individual rights under the constitution.

My opinions: I personally don't care either way about abortion. I think that it should be left up to the person who's going to get it or not. I do have strong opinions about the rights issue. If an embryo is entitled individual rights, that would mean that all people born after that law goes into effect, would have rights before they turn 18. I honestly don't see that working. Most people I know aren't even mature in their 20's, so a bunch of 11 year olds with individual rights running around? No, bad idea.

I've been doing this is FE (keep in mind im in year 10 so i dont know everything about the subject)

an Embryo itself can survive after 24 weeks I think it is, it is at that point i class it as being human, as a human it has the right to live. However a mother has the right to choose whether or not to have the child. Why should a child be brought into the world when it was not wanted? It would be hard on the parents and they would feel it as a burden not a gift (when looking at Christianity children are seen as gifts from god im not religious but i kinda believe a child is a gift to the family) as for rights under the constitution i am not american so can not really comment.

I think i have answered both questions in that.

How can we force somebody to endure the stress of bearing a child?
Some people just can't afford to have a child, and I bet it would be pretty difficult emotionally for them to put it up for adoption. Not to mention the pain of having your vag ripped open.

It seems pretty cruel to make somebody do that against their will.

I'm for choice. Whatever the mother chooses, fine by me. In almost 99% of the cases, the woman would probably want the child. That's why she tried for a child. In the other 1%, are the women who can't afford it, rape victims, or a woman who can't safely give birth.

The choice should be there. Less Government interference is the way to go.
