This is possible thanks to new advances made in OLED (Organic light emitting diode) technology over the last year. OLED screens have become increasingly popular among display manufactures because of their many benefits over LCD screens. Samsung uses a type of OLED screen in its high spec phones, to make them thinner and because they are extremely energy efficent.

Adavantages of OLED displays:

Can be cheaper to manufacture
They are more power efficent
Are much thinner and lighter
They can be manufactured to bend
Better picture quality

Sadly not everything perfect and the technology hasn't been perfected yet.

Disadvantages include:

Short life span
The could easily be broken
Burn in

It won't be long before we start to see this being adopted as an industry standard in electronics, as companies struggle to find new ways to make their devices thinner and lighter.

You're thoughts and opinions? Will you be buying an OLED tv? Or will you wait till the technology is perfected?

I have 2 55" LEDs. All the benefits, none of the cons. I'm not going to be opting for a "greener" TV that has all of those cons.

Do a barrel roll!
This is one sick TV. I also thought the TV was actually a picture pasted on top of another picture though Happy

It's possible to make the screens thinner than paper.
