This is LG's brand new 55" OLED tv, It sports LG's advanced You must login or register to view this content. technology to create mind blowingly detailed images. It weighs in at only 7.5Kg and best of all it's only 4mm thick!!

This is possible thanks to new advances made in OLED (Organic light emitting diode) technology over the last year. OLED screens have become increasingly popular among display manufactures because of their many benefits over LCD screens. Samsung uses a type of OLED screen in its high spec phones, to make them thinner and because they are extremely energy efficent.

Adavantages of OLED displays:

Can be cheaper to manufacture
They are more power efficent
Are much thinner and lighter
They can be manufactured to bend
Better picture quality

Sadly not everything perfect and the technology hasn't been perfected yet.

Disadvantages include:

Short life span
The could easily be broken
Burn in

It won't be long before we start to see this being adopted as an industry standard in electronics, as companies struggle to find new ways to make their devices thinner and lighter.

You're thoughts and opinions? Will you be buying an OLED tv? Or will you wait till the technology is perfected?

Shiver do you lift?
They need to stop making shit so small, I actually like a big telly, Not a 4mm thick one, honestly.. how easy is that to just snap off..

Its not good... With every advance, We take a step foward. And 4000 steps back. (About the cons)

We want it to be a small telly yeah, NOT THAT SMALL THAT I CANT EVEN SEE IT

ehh to be honest, companies need to distinguish the line between 'thin' and 'too thin'. This could easily snap as it's not even half a centimetre :S
