War is one of the best ways to bring back an economy. It creates jobs (building planes, tanks, helos, ammo, explosives, military personnel etc etc etc). The government can impose a tax increase due to the war, but people will be earning money by working, which is funded by the government because of the tax increase. People earn money, spend money, save money. Banks gain more money, shops gain more money, more jobs are created and so on. It might not be exactly like that, but along those lines.

As for the oil argument. Is it too late to be doing something about another energy source? There are plenty of ways to get electricity. Wind farms, Hydro electric, tidal, solar and so on. These are all renewable sources. They do have a disadvantage. It's more work to do. All those wind turbines need space. You need suitable locations for tidal or water. The sun is only out so long a day. It doesn't produce as much as oil, can't be managed as easily as oil.

There is nuclear. But as we all know, it's not the best way. Can become unstable and create another Chernobyl. Take 100 years for the cores to cool or become non-radioactive (one or the other), need to be buried deep and securely.

The only reason we use oil so much is because of the money. That's why no alternate source has been made/found because of all the money governments make from oil. They don't care about how much we pay for petrol, or gas, or electricity because they get a % of the money.

When nuclear war comes about, it'll be the end of this civilization. Einstein said "I know not what weapons World War III will be fought with, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." It's pretty hard to disagree with that. The two most likely causes of this war are you lot stealing everyone else's oil and religion. If we can get rid of those two problems we'd be laughing. Hell, if we stopped the dependency on oil then climate change wouldn't be as much of a problem either.

It's going to happen sooner or later. We might as well start making the adjustments as early as possible, that way it's not going to be as much of a shock to the system. Like it or not, oil WILL run out.

Also oil has been fought over ever since it was useful to us. We're not the only ones who have fought over oil. It's common in modern days simply because EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY in this whole world wants more money. If you say otherwise you are a complete and utter liar and dumbass. So how are you going to make money? By buying and selling. In order to do so you have to have enough supplies to quench the demand. If you don't you go bankrupt. So for us to have a semi healthy economy you must have oil. Why oil? Because it's one of the most valuable resources this world has to offer.
