Barrack Obama

Firstly, I would like to point out that I consider myself more of an independent rather than Republican or Democrat. Secondly, I am reanalyzing my political views still. In certain aspects I am not a fan of his economic policies and how they handle events. No matter what you say the first-second year of his presidency was all democrat control. As for healthcare, I am a fan for national healthcare, but not a fan of Obamacare.

Foreign policy wise I actually am alright. He is attempting to create relations with the Muslim world, which is necessary as Israel as our only ally there(Yes I know Saudi, but not a big fan of the term ally there). I can't give him much for Iraq and Afghanistan withdrawals as those dates were previously set.

A possibility (Which is odd for me to say considering I was never a big fan of his)

Rick Santorum

Santorum is... something. Firstly, he opposes birth control. Now this isn't that large an issue if it's his views only. Except that he feels that insurers could choose to not cover birth control. When questioned if he was simply siding with his church's ideals he responded by saying he couldn't believe how siding with one's church makes them "out of mainstream". To add on, he has attempted to illegalize the selling of contraceptions. Yeah, because statistics totally don't say that would be a horrid idea. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a huge issue, but an issue nonetheless

Next, he has religious/education issues. He calls colleges indoctrination mills that take faith away. His words:
- “I understand why Barack Obama wants to send every kid to college, because of their indoctrination mills, absolutely … The indoctrination that is going on at the university level is a harm to our country.”
- “62 percent of kids who go into college with a faith commitment leave without it,” <- Didn't bother giving source

Then there is the fact he doesn't recognize separation of church and state as being "absolute". Give me a break, how the hell can this still be an issue.

He also believes... I don't even know how to word this. I suppose something like "Why consider other people's rights":
- "All of us have heard people say, 'I privately am against abortion, homosexual marriage, stem cell research, cloning. But who am I to decide that it's not right for somebody else?' It sounds good, but it is the corruption of freedom of conscience."

Santorum does not believe in the "right to privacy". Yep, everyone who is reading this thread right now has no right to not have their computer searched. Hell, you could go much father.

He stands against basic libertarian rights. Such as the right to be left alone... ARE YOU KIDDING ME! So religious organizations can be left alone all you want, but citizens get screwed!

Santorum has said, that if he became president he would force Iran to open up nuclear facilities or bomb the weapons facilities... nice to know our options

He also denies Global Warming in the lowest degree, saying it is an attempt from the left to control your life.

Yep, he's not it

Newt Gingrich

Where to start? Most people are aware of Newt Gingrich's asking for open marriage with his wife (who was very ill). Honestly, to me I don't know how much that incident truly bothers me. As I see it more as just being selfish. What get's me more is the fact he is insane.

First, I'll start with the fact he is a huge suck up to Israel. For those who haven't seen the video,
. In it, Gingrich basically says Palestine is an invented nation as are it's people. Hmm Gingrich seems to forget Israel has only existed for around 50 years in the Middle East, and was in fact taken from Palestine. Now there are two possible scenarios, one he is just sucking up, two he knows little about foreign affairs. Now I prefer the first to be true, but at the same time one cannot let the second issue slide by. If in fact his knowledge of foreign affairs is this little, should he be handed power when the Middle East is heating up more than ever?

Second, he has some radical ideas, or just more sucking up. In Florida, you can watch the video here, Gingrich promises something that no one, I repeat no one, could possibly consider true. That he will build a moon base (keep in mind NASA is useless at this moment) and it will become a state. At least... wait what... it will be built by 2020! So in 8 years, he expects us to not only build a base on the moon (oh the complications), but create a method of transportation of supplies back and forth. Once again, he could be sucking up as Florida is a space state, but at the same time he does not give this appearance off. Side Note: I guess the US is claiming the moon

Not him

Ron Paul

One thing you must keep in mind is his age, which is 76. This is somewhat concerning as it leaves room for his VP to take control over the situation.

He believes in little government. Now for me, I can see this as both a con and a pro. But as of right now I have to say that this would currently be a negative. More importantly, he wants to kill our Education and Energy cabinets (among others, but this disturbs me more). He continuously attempts to veto most proposals of spending or taxes (which can be concerning). He is right though in saying republicans have become the party of big government in certain aspects.

He does want to reform the CIA and end the overthrowing of governments(+ and -). At the same time he is very old fashioned in the sense he feels we don't need government for much at all. He wants to cut the corporate tax rate, eliminate capital gain taxes, which can be incredibly, incredibly messy(Just look at history).

Note: He also wants us to switch to the gold and silver standard
In summary, economically and socially he has a pretty laissez faire ideology.

Socially he is pretty laissez faire. He believes gay marriage should be legal, ending of prohibition, right to bear arms, etc... But exceptions: abortion(illegal), education he wants to tear apart, accepts global warming.

Just a little too radical and flawed in certain aspects.

Mitt Romney

He is mainly against abortion except in rare occurrences. Supporter of the death penalty. Against same-sex marriage.

I'll come back to finish this later

I know this is about current presidential candidates but I want to remind you guys about Herman Cain. Why?

That is by far the dumbest campaign video I have ever seen. It's so stupid, it's brilliant, as a joke though.

Anyways, let's start with Santorum; dumb, close-minded turd. I see no problem with a religious president; that's great but when you force religion on everyone else and exempt it from the nullification of every other person's rights, there's a problem. Also, Global Warming is an effort to control you; all I can think is of the episode from the Simpsons where Homer makes a blog and calls himself Mr.X; the flu-shot is an effort to manipulate you into spending more at Christmas. Homer then gets kidnapped by an organization who stops people from spreading the truth and beneficial things. There was the guy with the cure to AIDS, I believe. a guy who invented a bottomless bag of popcorn and so on. My only thinking here is why doesn't some shady organization kidnap Santorum; please for the love of God, someone, kidnap Santorum.

Ron Paul is a great presidential candidate but unfortunately he doesn't belong here and I don't mean he's too old. He's an old-fashioned laissez-faire guy. I love laissez-faire ideology but that being said even I can see that laissez-faire will help destroy the country at the state it's in now. If this was the Roaring Twenties, then that's a different thing. The U.S was booming and the government could have taken a backseat and the country wouldn't have really suffered. The present is completely different; there is a looming sense of class war, soldiers in the Middle East, healthcare, massive amounts of debt etc. This is the time for a strong administration to step up not back away.

Obama in my opinion is doing what he can. Yes, he didn't fulfill all of his promises but the question is, why did you expect him to? I don't support Obamacare whatsoever; the way I see it, Obama is just forcing insurance companies to think more creatively when ripping people off. If he wants to do something; implement a slowly progressing income tax rate and work on implementing Universal HealthCare. Obviously, something that monumental is not going to happen overnight but it's definitely worth spending more time to achieve. Also, Bush left this country in a pretty bad state; all of the massive defense spending and other anti-terrorism measures finally caught up with the U.S. Unfortunately, Obama got caught in the crossfire. He seemed optimistic when he came into office and almost immediately worked to shut down Guantanamo; it didn't work but he tried nonetheless. He may not have done much but he tries and that is definitely a quality one wants in a politician.

Mitt Romney is a the definition of a contradictory Republican. In the past he said he supported gay marriage, homosexuality in general, abortion etc. Keep in mind this was when he wasn't as big a politician and needed to boost his rep. He also wants to end Obamacare, call China a currency manipulator and then proceed to duty their imports if they don't float the yuan. He also wants to cut the corporate tax rate to 25% and approve FTAs (Free Trade Agreements) with Panama, Colombia, and South Korea. He also wants to cut taxes in general to put more money into consumers' hands. Unfortunately, the biggest winner from this are big corporations and the men/women who sit atop them. The little guy will still have difficulties; no Obamacare brings insurance companies to their former glory and gives them free reign to rape consumers. Why all the tax cuts; Romney thinks he's a superstar economist and bases all of this on the Laffer Curve. The Laffer Curve for those of you who don't know, is an economic thought experiment that compares taxation rate and government revenue. Now tax cuts generally up government revenue and give the economy a boost. Unfortunately, this is assuming the taxation rate is above 50%, which it obviously is not in the U.S. So this will not boost government revenue but it could give the economy a kick in the pants. Romney already proves that he manipulates his word to fit his purposes; if one were to trust a politician, it should not be Romney.

Gringich, is a dumbass. A goddamn Moon base by 2020; why don't you cure cancer, AIDS and show me a trolling unicorn that flies on a rainbow in the 8 years in between and I'll believe you. Only an idiot would think that you could build a moon base in 8 years when we still don't have an efficient way of traveling back and forth quickly. Seriously, does this moron think we can ride the neutrino that is supposedly faster than the speed of light back and forth to the moon? He would have made more sense saying that he wants to look into making a permanent base on the moon and putting in the work necessary to actually get there, not just say it will be done in 8 years. Well then again, this is coming from the idiot that thinks the Palestinians don't exist. I really don't know what else to say about this "misunderstood visionary".

The real picks in my opinion are: Ron Paul, and Obama. Romney is too pro privatization to see the flaws in his strategy; the first of which is trying to attack China with the currency manipulator label. The other two are lunatics; I don't really need to say much else. Ron Paul may not really belong here but he is definitely a step up from the competition. Obama is better than Ron Paul and the best candidate in the 5 in my opinion. That being said, there aren't many good candidates
