Post: Jobs + Choices

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so this thread is basically you guys telling everyone your jobs if you want to and also choices you've had to make e.g one job or another.

I guess i'll start:

Ok so i'm in year 10 now and need to start thinking about what I want to do when i'm older as i need to think if i want to go to 6th form or College.

So these are my two choices:

1)
Go to Sixth form and take A-Level Biology and some others that will help me get a job in the NHS as a paramedic or nurse.
As I find saving people and helping people is a good job and stuff like that interests me, but if i do go to train as a nurse, on top of the two-years at sixth form i will need to go to university to study nursing and do a course for 4 years ( my sister is in her 3rd year of training to be a nurse now and she really enjoys it as when you reach your 2nd year you start getting placments working in hospitals and actually doing practice on real people and working on wards and A&E etc.....

2)
Leave school next year (end of year 11) and go to college get an apprenticship in plumbing and help my dad in his buisness he does bathroom, kitchen tiling and fittings such as sinks, toilets, baths, showers etc... and when i finish the apprenticeship i will have a job guranteed it's quite a hard choice for me as both are very good pay jobs.

So please feel free to discuss your choices and jobs and what you think i should choose!

Thanks.

Number 2 100%.

Plumbing can be amazing pay, like you said you'd have a job there for you + it's working for/with your Dad (Which is good)

NHS is going down hill bad time, isn't that good pay & loads of pay cuts.

Simple answer but I hope it helps Smile

yeah i will most likely do 2 as i am almost guranteed a job so dont need to worry about trying to find one for ages, also plumbing is very good pay when your a decent one.
My dads friend has his own buisness and has a Audi Jeep (Private Reg) and the new Range Rover Sport (Private Reg) and his house is awesome.

And its nice to here what you guys are saying, helping me understand that getting a job isnt easy and its hard when you leave school thanks guys!! Smile

My dad is a plumber, before he downsized, he was making close to 500,000$ a year before taxes. I think what ever you think is fun to do you should do and it wont feel like work to you.

Tiger which job would you prefer? If there was no work that had to be done to get there and you could just turn up tomorrow.

Idk what it is like in the EU but being a nurse/paramedic sounds a lot better than being a plumber to me(I'm from the US)

I'm wanting to join the Regiment but I haven't applied yet. Need to get fitter before I think about applying. Shame I didn't start training earlier and and taking PE at school seriously otherwise I could have applied by now.

Good luck with getting the job though. Will be good when you finish serving in the military you'd be able to become a fire fighter if you wanted to. It's something that crosses my mind every once in while what I'd do if I get in and finish serving, Fireman or Police.
