I guess i'll start:

Ok so i'm in year 10 now and need to start thinking about what I want to do when i'm older as i need to think if i want to go to 6th form or College.

So these are my two choices:

1)
Go to Sixth form and take A-Level Biology and some others that will help me get a job in the NHS as a paramedic or nurse.
As I find saving people and helping people is a good job and stuff like that interests me, but if i do go to train as a nurse, on top of the two-years at sixth form i will need to go to university to study nursing and do a course for 4 years ( my sister is in her 3rd year of training to be a nurse now and she really enjoys it as when you reach your 2nd year you start getting placments working in hospitals and actually doing practice on real people and working on wards and A&E etc.....


2)
Leave school next year (end of year 11) and go to college get an apprenticship in plumbing and help my dad in his buisness he does bathroom,kitchen tiling and fittings such as sinks,toilets,baths,showers etc... and when i finish the apprenticeship i will have a job guranteed it's quite a hard choice for me as both are very good pay jobs.

So please feel free to discuss your choices and jobs and what you think i should choose!

I'm in year 10 aswell, only difference is I'm really bad at science, and almost every subject for that matter xD

I'm looking to get into six form, then after that go to art college to study graphic design =D

Yeah im not brilliant at Sciene C's in all them just need to pull myself to revise. (Never going to happen)!

I'd be in year 14 now I think, I'm currently at college training to be an OOW on a ship. I like jobs where I can sit on my ass all day and look out a window and this is perfect and pays well too, plus you get to see a bit of the world if you work for the right company but I'm on ferries for now.

Also I cruise hard in life I finished school with pretty good GCSE's mostly B's then did a year of A-Levels where I passed AS Maths with a B and Physics with a C then I hopped off to college because I couldn't be fucked with another year of A-levels which I didn't need anyway because I'd already been accepted by a sponsoring company that were willing to train me as an OOW based on the GCSE results I had got and the best thing about this training is that it's totally free and I get paid a wage of £500 a month while I'm at sea and £1125 a month during college time so not only can I leave college debt free but I will actually leave with more money that I began with so for me this beats going to uni and getting £30k in debt.

Whoo and that brief description of my academic/working life at the moment.

your better off going to college. If the plumbing idea goes to crap you'll have nothing to fall back on but if the college idea falls to crap you can fall back on the plumbing

Firstly, i'm getting all B's for my subject and hoping for an A in maths (if i can be fucked to revise). Year 11, next year going college to do public services, after that applying for my PCSO, hopefully around 2/3years of being a PCSO i will become a police officer in the metropolitan police.

Well I'm 20 and unemployed. Not through lack of trying, trust me, I'm trying hard. I have interviews, good GCSE's at C's, shit A-levels but they're mostly for uni's anyway. It's not what grades you have, it's what experience you have. When I left school the recession was just kicking in. I had no idea what it would be like, my brother was getting jobs and I thought I'd be the same when I was his age, but then companies started making people redundant, meaning more people looking for work, people with experience. I can't get any because everyone wants experience and don't look twice at people without it. I get interviews but after I always get the whole "We found someone with more experience than you blah blah blah". Hell, you even need experience for bar work. How hard is that to learn?

Even people with uni degrees can't even get jobs because of the same reasons as me. No experience. I'm currently training for the RAF so if all goes to plan and I don't find a job in say 3-5 months I'll be applying for that, hoping my fitness increases in that time. If I get a job, awesome, just means I'll be pushing the RAF back a few years. That's my dream job for now. All the stuff you get to do in it such as travel and have shit loads of fun skiing and stuff for training sounds awesome.

The job industry is these days is not what you know but who you know. Maybe working with your dad would be a good start to get some training and money. You never know, 20 years time you could have your own big company.

i went to 6th form and it sucks in all honesty i didnt help myself most of the time i skived off lessons with few of my mates i saw it as a free year off rather than working hard after i failed my exams at the end (i sort of knew) i went to college and got my city and guilds plastering qualification due to recession i had to leave that and now im a postman (dont knock it its very good pay) but i always have plastering to fall back on if needed also i can do odd jobs on weekend i did one other weekend and got £175 for basically a day and half work, in contrast my freinds that did do well in 6th form and are now at uni they love it socially but are finding the work stressful many are in 1000's debt and will struggle to get a job when they leave as theres not many jobs about

its upto you but i found getting into work and earning straight away especially if your dad can help by giving you a job , i can pay for holidays went to australia for 3 months last year and ive just spent 7k on my new car whereas most of my mates cant afford to go out at all

you do realise how hard it is to become a pcso depending on where you live ive tried on many occasions but there rarely accepting new recruits around my areas

out of interest what is it youve apllied to do in RAF im on record for RAF firefighter ive done my physical and written tests its just a matter of waiting when they recruit again for my specific job luckily im still in work earning
