Alright so in this thread I will be talking about my time being here on NextGenUpdate. So where should I start? I'll start when I joined. Well it started back on my Ps3 days when Cod4 and WaW were huge. I was playing search and destroy on Cod4 when all of sudden I got killed by somebody flying around in the sky. I was like what the fuck how is he doing that so I can't remember how but I ended up somewhere on the internet was either youtube or google but I tried to type in a search that would go along with it and I believe I found Ngu. So I signed up and got the method and to tell you the truth if anybody remember how easy it was to the the ufo hack thing on Cod4 with the usb it literally took me like an hour with a couple tries to figure it out believe it or not lol. I then found you could do even more hacks with the usb offline on cod4 and do even more fun mods with it and stuff. But then finally my Ps3 blue ray laser took and shit and didn't get it fixed till like 6 months later. And that is the time when I fully started my ngu active duty I would call it lol.

So I started getting active in the community and had some stupid bumps in the road but who doesn't? I think I got infracted for rep boosting 1 time and a couple other stupid shit but I am an example on why people deserve 2nd chances and should not be looked down on the stupid shit they did. No 3rd chances etc.. just a 2nd chance and if you fuck up after that you're done. I started to get to know more and more people etc.. Played games on the consoles and got talking to outie on aim etc.. when he was able to get on started to get to know each other and seeing from his point of view I really cared about ngu and boom I became staff in June of 2010 and becoming more with the community etc.. and working my way up through the ranks and finally becoming admin in oct. of 2011.

Alright so that was basically my journey story or something along those lines but now we get down into the nitty gritty. It feels as if back then people actually cared on the site and now hardly anybody does. Like a select few and others are like fuck it. Back then it feels like there was a push that made people want to do more and more because everybody cared and worked together. Back in my time mod stats actually mattered and you would not even have to warn anybody for being to low. shit I think everybody was pretty high in the ranks and actually had mod stats wars to see who was #1 etc but was a friendly competition in the end. This is when all staff got along and there was something like idk what I would call let's call it a "PUSH" that made everybody want to put in some effort into the whole site. there was even a push to mod the forums even when you had enough and you knew you had enough stats or whatever to be fine for the next months. There was so many caring people I could not even believe it and we all worked together on projects and shit and everybody got along. Nobody went off and did there own little secret shit bla bla and got everybody into it so everybody felt together and wanted to do more. shiver, gobble, enzo, rjive, paul, battman, jim, shit the list could go on with ex-staff on people that cared and wanted to help even more but released it was starting to get to why and I doing this anymore since nobody else really started to not care?

I remember when shiver deleted himself or should I say AlphaMudafuckinDenver (holy shit first smiley used in this thread dayumm) but yeah people thought this was a joke as it was by April fools days but I kid you not he came into the modbox like a G and posted this song right here: and deleted himself like a bad ass. Now I don't know about you but that shows you how bad it go at that point of time and how much it took to wake up the owner himself. Shit I would call that the ngu melt down of "2011". A couple more staff members left I believe and shit just got bad. f33l made a thread and even people posted on outie's wall with like 10 scrolls of visitor messages or whatever you would call it. It was all just bad togehter but lucly things started to get ok again but you know you know...

It just feels like there is so many wanna be trolls here and just fuck shit up for the rest of us. Or to many I don't give a fuck people. Back in the day you were respect even on staff you were respect I think it's kinda all a big joke now. Some staff joining along in the bullshit that goes on and then says why is this place like this now. Well hurr durr I wonder why. If you got staff acting like a joke then the members see it and it spreads almost lets call it like a virus. Oh he can do that then I can do that. You gotta think like 80% of this community is teenagers including myself but you got most of then that will be copy cats and do the same shit you do. Then you go ban people/guest them whatever and people start rebeloins over that and shit goes down etc... rep was fuckin awesome before it got changed. It almost made you feel like a bad ass to have respect etc.. since nobody negs you you could fuck up their shit if they do etc.. or help them out a shit load with rep bla bla.

Man I know I will be forgetting a shit load in this thread but I'm trying to think about all the stuff I know well the big stuff I guess to put in this thread but if I have more stuff to add I might just make another thread or edit this but this is getting kinda long I guess lol. But yeah back then it felt like there was push/urge to do more and everybody was just happy to work together and 1 whole team unlike now I would call it. I mean I have had my own thoughts on making my own site and shit etc after I retired and shit but now that I think about it is why? I already belong to this big community why not stay here and try to make shit better or something? Anything helps I guess but still. Gonnna need alot of duck tape here I guess. But I shall stay here and fix things etc.. You get my flow. :p

We need to do something to put this place back in over drive or should I say poppin like it was back in the days that it was good. It happened before and I'm pretty sure if everybody puts their minds to it then we all could make it happen. I mean shit we can even put a video up on the ngs channel without it getting tons of dislikes? Some bs I call that. We all have to work together to make shit happen and I can see that happening. So I had a couple ideas that came to mine and shit so here it goes.

We need to spread stuff out. And I mean go big or go home! Let's do some new domains that focus on other forums Idea different things.. Maybe like a computer discussion site etc... but all the domains would always bring linked back to the main site which is here ngu. I mean we are the next gen updates site arn't we? the next big generating or all updates etc.. We gotta expand stuff and get new people and who knows maybe if they join one site they will come to ngu and spark a lil gaming in them or something. Try something new. When there is no glitches hacks or something then you gotta move on with something else but still keep it. You never know until you try it right? Life is like a box a chocolates you never know what you gonna get right?

Well I can't believe I just typed all this up lol this is crazy (and I just met you can I get ya numba?) :p anyways if you guys want to get into a movement to make this place better again etc... then hell yeah let's goooo! any ideas post below. remember 1 idea can go far.

I probably forgot a couple things but like I said above maybe 2nd part or something but for now that is it and I hope you guys read it even though how fuckin long this is but yup.

I agree with a lot of the points that you covered. When I joined, staff was highly respected. I even kissed ass a bit when I was non-prem. And when I was non-premium, it wasn't even that bad. There weren't that much comments about being a newfag. Things have changed so much within the last months. There isn't a purpose really anymore. And sadly, when the staff realize it, the whole community have and start thinking negative. Staff and members need to work together as the a community whole, not staff vs. members.

A lot of people just don't contribute anymore, as well as the staff. Once they get promoted, they get busy and don't post threads or anything contributing anymore. We even have to have a usergroup to make NGU youtube vids, to contribute tools and shit. I guess back then members posted it themselves, we didn't need a usergroup for them, because the whole community contributed.

We also have a problem with getting members to join and stick with it. I joined a year and a half ago and in the normal SB, I'm at the end of the Active Users list every time. (It goes in order of userid/join date) I think they're being scared off and not sticking with us.

I may be new on staff, but I've noticed from a new perspective that this community is falling apart. Honestly, I hate the discovery of that bodybuilding misc... It turned a lot of members into just stupid retards. I probably don't understand what I'm just about to post but I hope that some of those miscers and wannabe trolls read it and reflect.

I agree , and I have many more proof of such acts from Liam, Matt , and Foxaz and a few of your prior peers , Ex staff doing silly stuff like that frustrates me because Ex staff members should know better and be better examples.

Most of the staff we have now is Great in my Opinion. The problems I have been seeing lately is from EX-staff , all that trolling , and rustling the Jimmies and poor post on GM have been mostly Ex-staff which is redundant

From most users, I wouldn't even read a post this long, but everything you stated is pretty much spot on. I hope some people take the time to read mine.

One problem in my eyes ever since shiver left, the staff has been scrambled up, chewed up and spit back out so many times to the point that the members don't see any authority. They see how easy it was for this 13 year old to get mod and just like you said, they do exactly what they see, and with any luck they get promoted for no valid reason, and when their best friend retires they retire too. Then a new flock comes in and it repeats. I remember back in the good old days everyone knew the names of every mod, every respected member, and if you wanted to get known you had to put yourself out there. Now I really don't feel like I know hardly anyone on the site anymore. That's because a lot of the solid members left, or change their name every other week.

I know, I can be held responsible for getting promoted and retiring quite quickly, but to be 100% honest, I retired for the soul reason that I don't feel close to anyone on the site anymore, and I felt like I was babysitting, not moderating a forum. I wanted to be a mod way back in the day, and I worked my ass off for it and didn't get it until now, after I had already lost interest in getting staff. I thought becoming a mod would give me an opportunity to help the site get back on its feet, but 95% of my actions as a mod were simply trashing a CL request thread once or twice a day, that's about it.

As for rep, I think they've been just beating a dead horse. Once they changed it the first time a lot of members lost interest in the site, and is it SO bad that people posted things for rep? I don't think so. It gave people (myself included) a motive to discover/create new things to share with people. It gave people a motive to make themselves known and get active amongst the community and make a name for themselves, and I honestly feel like that's what kept the site going for the many years that things were great. Yeah, people rep boosted. Yeah, people abused negative rep. Yeah, people complained, but everyone knew who the boosters were, and who the abusers were. I think back when everyone complained about rep, they didn't know what they wanted out of the site and they saw rep as an easy target to affect the people who enjoyed it. Rep is always just a number, but look how many people thrived off the old system, because it worked, believe it or not.

And now for moving forward from here. I think separating into other sites is a terrible idea in all honesty. NGU is NGU and doesn't need any offspring sites taking the glory away from it. I think gaming squad is a joke. I think Outsider is and always will be the biggest name amongst NGU, and if he doesn't actually step up to the plate and get back into the scene then there's not a big chance that the site will find any reliable new members. Something needs to be done to change the image of this site from "that site where you can get CL's easily" back to a gaming forum with a flourishing community with a lot to offer.

I joined a little over 2 years ago, so I have experienced some of the "good 'ol days", but I wasn't 100% active, and I must say, the community and quality of posts was a lot better then, I remember coming into the shoutbox as a little non-premium and not being abused slightly, I remember when staff members had respect for eachother and people weren't being abused because of what colour their name was, yes there was banter from time to time which is great but no one was going too far,

one thing I think changed the site, slightly is the removal of sectional mods,

there are many reasons for this, and not what you would typically expect like "now less people get staff". One is that people say there are too many staff, this is simply because they are all blue. There were definitely a lot more staff when there were sectionals around, its just now their are more blues all moderating a lot of sections, that is the only difference. The ranks have changed meaning it only takes 3 steps to become and admin, yes it will take a lot of work, but it isn't far away. The main issue is that people who are newly promoted have nothing to achieve now. When there were purples (and also when there were mod stat competitions), staff members had goals, to be the best when it comes to moderating, or to earn more than 4 or so sections, this goal is what I believe gave the mods that little extra "push", yes they have goals to become supers now, but there can only be so many supers and therefore the less experienced blue don't have a massive chance to achieve this goal because of the experienced members they work with, which may bring morale down, what we are trying to achieve is equality, so that all of them have the same chance, no matter how long they've done it for, whoever is the best does deserve it, this would mean even newly promoted blues have a chance at super if they earn it, meaning the push factor will hopefully return.

The main issue is activity, we all know that, but to be honest, there isn't a lot we can do about it, we would like the members to stay and post, but how would we convince them to do this? All they have to do is sign up, download their MW2 or whatever hacks and leave, we need to think of a way of convincing them to stay after they've got what they came for,

other than that I agree with you Reaper, the community has to improve now, honestly, before "it is too late", formers need to get their act together, they should try and keep the respect they had when they were staff, if they have nothing to give and can only bring bad stuff like their immature personalities, then they should just leave, they're only making the situation worse,

I think I've said everything I want to say, just, great post as I've said Reaper, one of the most missed admins in my opinion, remain active and try not to turn in to one of them, please!

How do you expect people to change if you keep bringing the past everytime they do anything ? I tried in the first days after getting unbanned, I tried to get back to the days where I helped and posted good stuff on ngu but everytime dumbasses like you broke it all and made me think everything I would do, post would get people mad at me .. The only persons that helped me get through all of that are NeedaLifeSoon and Ownage and I thank them for that .. Right now I stoped posting because everytime I post my opinion or anything all I get is hate, -rep and stuff like that ? You really think that helped ? No ! People being dicks at me.. What do you expect ? Me licking your ass just so you appreciate me ? If a member is liked by everyone of course hes going to be nice too but if you're a dick to me dont expect something else .. Also you are on a forum and you shouldn't talk as you are the only one, ask people who like me how I am really and then think about it . The only thing I wish is people to move on from the past but I guess thats not happening anytime soon so yeah.. Also you should check my dispute thread when I got banned and you will see that I tried to get everything in order but SU44K8 didn't accept my offer which was : Give me back my account for a refund . In case you didn't know, he bought the account off of me but he didn't pay as gift.. He sent the money as he bought something that had be delivered... I never scammed anyone I went through alot of deals before that and early when I joined NGU I had a deal I sold an account for $80 and I never ever thought of scamming that guy I could do it, I wasn't even premium I could have scammed him and don't give a fuck about NGU but as I said I never scammed anyone so I didn't even think about it Last thing, I don't really care if you don't like me, I know who does and they know I am not that kind of person you think I am . That's all I care about .
