(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); SO I just found out I have to have a cavity filled next week.

Pretty terrified...well scared shitless actually. I'd rather take a 12guage round to the head than to go through with this.

Hate needles. Absolutely terrified of them. Doc said it won't hurt, and I won't feel a thing, not the needle or anything, but I know he's a blatant bullshit liar worse than Mitt Romney hell bent on causing people pain and exposing them to their worst fears.

Advice? Tips? Stories?

Ye the needles going to hurt and it's going to hurt bad. However the procedure won't hurt at all. When I had to get my first cavity filled at 18, I didn't get any needle and the only thing I felt was a kind of warming/burning sensation when he was drilling my tooth. It isn't so bad.

Ask your doctor if you can drink a shit load of beers and get drunk so that you don't feel any pain and if better, not remember it. My filling is also grey/silver stare don't know why, it's not the first.

brah it doesnt hurt trust me. it just feels like a little pinch. if you just stay calm it makes everything way easier
would you rather feel a pinch for a split second or let your cavity spread and ruin all of your teeth to the point where you need dentures?

That's what my mom told me. I think it's the fear of needles mostly. I know I won't fell the drill, but the needle still scare the shit out of me.

People keep telling me this, but I just don't know. I read where cavity fillings can and will fail later in life causing more work to be done. WTFH is that shit.

The girlfriend says once I get out, she'll be waiting at home to make all the pain go away, so I'm pretty excited about that, but I'm still pretty scared, and I've been a fucking bad ass in my life so far. I mean for gods sake I fought house fires without fear.

Honestly, rather than do this, I'd rather fight a 4 alarm multifloor structure fire ALONE without PPE ONLY armed with a fire extinguisher. I'd rather take a 12 gauge round to the face. I'd rather vote for Mitt Romney.

Seriously I'd rather be shot and die than go through this.

Close your eyes and talk to the person giving you the needle, that's what I do when I'm getting an injection of any kind. It helps a lot if I'm being honest. :p

Trust me man, there's no pain at all.

The first time that I got a cavity filled, I was around 12, I believe. What the dentist does, is he takes a swab of cotton, and he puts some "pink/purple" gel on it. He leaves 1-2 of these depending on where your tooth is. He leaves this on your gum line for around 5-10 minutes. This gel numbs the gum line.

Once it is numb, he will lay the chair back, and he will get out a needle. Inside of this shot will be Novocaine, or at least that's what's in mine. He will slowly poke you in the gum where the cavity is. This will not hurt at all. He will either
a) begin to drill
or
b) give you another shot of Novocain.

If he begins to drill, you will be more susceptible to feel pain. If he only gives you one shot, ask him to give you at least one more.

He will begin to drill around your tooth where the cavity is located. If you feel any pain, it will be a "sensitive" pain. An example would be like erm... Having a wound and touching it :\. It doesn't hurt bad at all though. If you feel pain, say "ouch" and ask him to numb you with more Novocain.

The drilling process will take around 5 minutes to an hour depending on how big your cavity is and where it's located.

You have nothing to worry about Smile Keep positive, and don't think about it.

Another odd thing about my first drilling was whenever he gave me the shots, I actually felt the liquid inside of my gums o.O It feel pretty awkward, and drained into my nose :fa:.

Forgot to mention, after he gives you the shots, you will wait for around 10-20 minutes until you are unable to feel your whole mouth X)
