(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); SO I just found out I have to have a cavity filled next week.

Pretty terrified...well scared shitless actually. I'd rather take a 12guage round to the head than to go through with this.

Hate needles. Absolutely terrified of them. Doc said it won't hurt, and I won't feel a thing, not the needle or anything, but I know he's a blatant bullshit liar worse than Mitt Romney hell bent on causing people pain and exposing them to their worst fears.

Advice? Tips? Stories?

Trust me, the more shots that you get, the better pain wise it is. There's no pain whenever the needles enter.
More Novacain = More numb
More numb = No Pain

I hate needles too. If scared shitless too. The lady dentist just held my hand while she was putting in the needles. Ik I sound like a pussy, but it helps cause im just scared of them for some reason. Once you get the needles, the hard part is basically over, but make sure your numb enough real well. Cause I wasn't numb real well and I hurt like fuck when he started drilling into my tooth.

Yeah dude it's awful and actually true story when I was a kid I had Acid Reflux (well I still do but it's much better) and I no joke threw up like 1/3 meals and the acid eats away your enamel which protects your teeth then you get cavities very easily and I would cry and beg my mom not to have to go every time. It hurts so bad!

:carling:

I'm just fucking with you bro it honestly doesn't hurt at all your acting like this is a huge needle it's like a half an inch they stick it in your gum, then they fill it which you now feel nothing and it's over in 20 minutes or so don't sweat it bro.

Getting a cavity filled is nothing, all they do is pack it with some shit (depends on what kind of filling you get) their should be no need for any type of pain, just maybe some minor discomfort or an odd feeling as you get used to they new "feel" of the filling. Now, if you had to have a tooth/ teeth extracted, that's a different story, than they have to numb your gums with a shot of Novocain, and if it's anything like when I had to have 4 teeth removed (to make room for my wisdom teeth, which still had to come out anyways as they were still crowding my teeth) the dentist didn't inject enough Novocain, so it hurt like hell for a minute.

You were awake when they extracted your teeth?:dude..:

When I had four teeth removed, I was put to sleep. I was awake when they extracted only one tooth from me.

I got a couple of my teeth filled, the needle doesn't hurt at all. It's not that long to be honest, depending on your dental care you may get a cool needle that vibrates and you won't feel it. Then after that they fill your teeth with flourite I think, not sure. It's kind of gritty, taste like toothpaste, so maybe flourite.

just last wednesday I had two cavaties filled, I just kept complaining about pain until my whole right side of my face up to the bottom part of my eye was numb from the novacaine
after that it was a walk in the park, they were filling in a chip on my right canine tooth and had to drill off a ton of the tooth, all around the top at the gumline and side along it plus with the tooth behind it
I've had cavaties filled with out any painkillers and Im never gonna do that again...
bring your ipod if you have nice dentists, they wont give a fuck
the smell of your ground away teeth is the worst though

Have him give you some laughing gas or some shit that makes you fall asleep. Usually if you're bad with this stuff you can request it.

Yeah, the dentist I went to is/ was very good, at-least 1 year waiting list, but he only puts you under if your deathly afraid of needles, or if your having a major surgery, But I was awake while I had all 8 teeth extracted, it's definitely weird hearing your teeth being ripped from your mouth, but not feeling a damn thing. Than the dentist yelled at me, cause immediately after I got my wisdom teeth pulled, I went to work, apparently that's a big no no, and I guess I wasn't even suppose to drive myself.

That's insane!

I'm not exactly afraid of the needles, just the pain that they cause me.
