Alright, so I have a friend that used to do harm to herself but has been clean for about a month, but she said the thoughts of suicide haunt her. So out of nowhere yesterday said she is leaving for a 'while' and said she didn't know how long or what will happen, but she left to a hospital for suicide treatment or something like that, they keep her overnight and she is there currently and cannot use cellphones, so I was googling like all day and could find shit, so I decided to ask you guys, can anyone tell me how long this lasts and what happens?
Thanks
My guess is a few weeks, or until she is deemed "sane" and not a "potential harm to herself and others" by the doctors. It would vary from case to case.
Don't mean to state the obvious, but whenever she is successfully treated... I don't think you can know exactly when that is because it will vary from person to person and it depends what kind of issues she is having. She even said herself she would be gone for a while and she doesn't even know long. I think it's strange she can't use her phone. Surely it would help to talk to friends/family? Well, I hope she gets better and that you see/talk to her soon.

Couple of weeks to months. She be given some therapy for it along side any drugs if needed.
They should try and put in place support for her once she outside of the hospital.
No standard treatment just a list of things to call on.

A friend I know in school, more of a acquaintance actually, was diagnosed with depression. He got some anti-depressants which made him act weird to be honest. I personally know another person that was on anti-depressants and they said it made them feel "zombie-like" as in they don't feel high or low. Just don't be too surprised if your friend is acting strange for a while.
As for the how long, it could be any length of time and there's nothing much you can do to help, if she's getting professional help then all is good. I wouldn't force her to tell you about why she was down either, she'll probably want to get on with her life. Anyways G'luck to your friend.
She was probably institutionalized to a mental rehabilitation center. They usually keep people with suicidal thoughts there for anywhere from 2-3 months.

Well sometimes talking to friends or family might be a bad thing. Think about it, if she texts her friend and her friend tells her about parties or some shit that were good and she was sorry she missed which might dampen her mood and not be good, or if someone brings up anything relating to the reason she is suicidal in the first place by accident it wouldn't be good. I'm sure family could meet with her while she is there and talk, but if she has a mobile phone and someone asshole gets the number and starts sending harsh texts and shit it wouldn't be a good thing at all..
