Post: Time Travel. Realistic? Yes or no

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have always assumed that time travel would one day be possible, but not in my lifetime, or even my kids lifetime. But I came upon an actual video that a guy has actually created one(a time machine), just not like TV and movies portray them to look.

I can't help but think that this has to be somewhat realistic. And it got me thinking to what people would be able to do with this, whether bad or good.

So do you think time travel is realistic? Or if not now with today's technology, but in the near future?

BTW, HackForums couldn't take this seriously worth a shit...at least watch the video and see what I'm talking about.

Interesting video. I started reading about time travel when someone said traveling back in time was impossible. I think it was in the shoutbox? A good point was brought up however, if it was possible wouldn't we have already seen people from the future in the present? Not sure what I believe. I agree that even if it is possible it won't happen any time soon.

Problem rule #16?
I can't say im certain it is possible because we would have found something hinting at it :l Unless its like that movie "Time Cop" and they have laws and limitations placed to prevent messing with the timeline... hard to say

I had a physics professor in college explain that it is possible. The faster you go, the slower time moves. If you have a fast enough spaceship, you "outrun" or "bend" time. If you blast off in your fast ship for a year of your time, then spend another year returning to Earth, time will have advanced 100 years on Earth while you only witnessed 2.

It's been proven in the small scale.

I believe it is possible, and I do believe it's possible in the near future but I think it will only be a small jump in time. I remember watching a show and a guy was flying an aircraft and went through some vortex or something for what seemed like a short time but it ended up being longer than he thought. Whether this is true or not I don't know.

Also, there would probably be restrictions/ guidelines so nobody would fuck up the timeline.

Travelling forward in time is definitely possible, but not to the past.

Do a barrel roll!
only possible to go forward if we somehow learn how to move faster that the speed of light which is impossible

Whoever put no is someone technologically slow. It has been proven that the closer to the speed of light you go the slower time moves. This is done so you don't go faster than the speed of light. Technically every time you go on a plane or go for a car ride you are actually traveling faster in time, albeit incredibly slow. The only true time travelers are the people on the ISS and I believe they are something like a few microns of a second in the future, or something like that (maybe in milliseconds, I'm not really sure.) Now in terms of traveling back in time, methods have been proposed and may be possible, but there is no definite way of telling.

It's possible, we just need to figure out how.

The thing is, who's going to control that technology Certainly the world governments will not trust civilians with time travel, so we'll have to make it ourselfs, and by then it will be highly illegal to do so.

With TT being under government control, will they use it responsibly What if it fell into someone's hand like Germany, and the person whos control it fell to, fells Germany should've won WWII, of it falls into the hands of N. Korea.

Possible, but dangerous.
