It depends on what they do. I dont think that it should be up to a government/judges/whoever to punish the person but the people affected. Such as say someone kills a family member of yours you should beable to kill them back without getting a "punishment". The problem is that can be a trait of anarchy and even though I'm against how government rules in certain aspects I know that anarchys just plain fail. Maybe if the person who committed the crime(s) are found guilty and given the death penaly should have the family/peoples lives he/she ruined the option to inject him themselves (although electicutions more fun) or just beat him senseless till there dead. That would make people think again before committing a huge crime.
