The most puzzling question i have about god is how is it possible that god is infinite future and infinite past. I use this analogy to explain my point, imagine an infinitely long highway, its infinitely long in the north direction and infinitely in the south direction. This highway represents god. The length of the highway represents time, and the highway is infinite. This means that god has come in from the middle of the highway and started creating the north end and south end at the same time. That would mean that the past is still being created and the future is still being created. The reason i say god came in the middle is because if you think about it, that is the only way a man could create an infinitely expanding highway in both direction, let’s say you had a million guys working on the north end and the south end. And they NEVER stop building in any direction because the south end never stops and the north end never stops because the highway is infinite. Remember the highway represents time, or “Gods time/lifetime” if you will.

I may have misunderstood the purpose of your post, but it sounds like you just have a problem imagining infinity. It's not just you, it's everyone. The notion of going to the end and adding one more forever is something that the human brain struggles to conceive, you'll be there forever and a day trying to work it out. Pun absolutely intended. This is a logical problem not a religious one. If you're looking for a philosopical perspective on God being infinite, then your best bet is in this thread ----> You must login or register to view this content.

This is easy to answer for both any god and the universe. For a god you can just say (make up) that he/she/it exists outside of time, and for the universe you just need to realise that time itself is finite, it hasn't always been. Once you take time out of the equation, 'infinite', as difficult as it is to comprehend isn't really a thing. Or at least that's how I understand it.

"Religion; giving people hope in a world torn apart by religion."

Most posts you make I can relate too. I've recently started praying, it seems to work for me. But I'm very lucky in this world, and I've gotten everything I've prayed for. It's really weird, it fills a void I feel that is missing in my life. Idk how to explain it, I don't believe in any of the religions currently. But I do believe in some kind of God. It's too weird the way the world works for it to just be evolution and shit. Former Atheist. Plus I hit you with a +150 :y:

First off, praying does nothing. You're displaying confirmation bias. Secondly, your inability to comprehend something doesn't make it any less valid and it most certainly doesn't infer any sort of deity's existence. Those are two irrational leaps you're making.

You don't deserve the flying spaghetti monster in your life as you are denying him right now, but one day you'll need and and he will be there for you, but you mustn't deny him any more.

Probably best merged into the God vs Fact thread that's already here.

Ive watched too much discovery channel to believe in God. We all came from the spontaneous "Big Bang."
Since time began with the Big Bang, there was no previous moment in time for any God to create the Big Bang.

Do you have any proof that god is real ?
Why don't you believe in other religions gods, what makes the Christian god more "real" than Zeus or an Egyptian god ?

There is no proof that god is real, because sadly, he isn't.
You live, and then you die; human bodies are just a collection of cells with the ability to think freely; we are not really that much different from single cell organisms.

I believe that God exists and doesn't all at the same time. And I know this is a weird way to think of it but if you hear me out it can make sense.

The reason I believe God exists and doesn't is because if you take let's say a previous religion, I tend to use Greek/Roman Mythology, just because I like it, but if you look at it now, that religion is now a "dead" religion, those gods have "died" and are no longer worshiped, but new this one "God" exists, only because people have manifested this being into their lives and given Him power. But throughout time, if there is an All-Mighty being watching over us, it would have to change it's form every few millenium or so to keep up with modern ideals.

But if everybody all at once, denounced "God", then he would cease to exist. So in a way, God exists and also does not exists all at the same time.

That's my take on it anyways.

Lots of people believing or disbelieving in something has absolutely no impact on reality at all.

I have never seen another Agnostic-Atheist on the forums here. Maybe they're all just hiding Gasp

But continuing on, the question I would like to know is 'will we ever reach an answer based on fact'?
