The most puzzling question i have about god is how is it possible that god is infinite future and infinite past. I use this analogy to explain my point, imagine an infinitely long highway, its infinitely long in the north direction and infinitely in the south direction. This highway represents god. The length of the highway represents time, and the highway is infinite. This means that god has come in from the middle of the highway and started creating the north end and south end at the same time. That would mean that the past is still being created and the future is still being created. The reason i say god came in the middle is because if you think about it, that is the only way a man could create an infinitely expanding highway in both direction, let’s say you had a million guys working on the north end and the south end. And they NEVER stop building in any direction because the south end never stops and the north end never stops because the highway is infinite. Remember the highway represents time, or “Gods time/lifetime” if you will.

I have absolutely nothing against people believing in god. In fact, I can't say I do or that I don't.

Until recently I thought I was atheist, but in all honesty, how can I have any ideas or theories about something which no one can claim any knowledge about.

This brings me to the quote, you are the sort of religious person I detest, don't take this as a personal attack, it isn't just consider this without thinking irrationally please. How can you say someone doesn't deserve god? How can you say he will be there? You know no more about what god is and can do than anyone else, so therefore you cannot say what he will or won't do. Also sorry to be pedantic but for someone who appears to know a lot about god, you should really capitalize 'God', and how can you say god is a he? Surely an 'it' is more appropriate.

Personally i would have to say im agnostic, but i dont really like to label my belief, as it is a state of uncertainty, and therefore i feel as though i cant name it. My problem I have is that when people say time is infinite and has and will always be, I think to the Shakespeare/monkey/typewriter analogy, and that makes me think that the odds were 100% that this world, and all that has happened, would happen eventually, as there was an infinite timescale in which it could happen. How indeed this did happen, is a mystery to me, which is why i cant rule out god. But I dont see, with all of the scientific evidence proving otherwise, how such an act of 'magic' performed by 'god' could logically happen.

Sadly, I envy those who have clear cut opinions, it must make life much easier, which is why many people believe in god (imo). The way i look at it, im too logical to believe in a god, but the idea of not knowing is scary, and is incomprehensible to think about... it has a similar effect as the question: what is at the edge of the universe and beyond? and is there even such a thing as beyond the universe? The possibilities:

1) God is dead
2) God never existed
3) God isn't all powerful
4) God is more of what we define to be "alien" life. The theory of genetically engineering us. (More of what I find possible).
5) We are all just an advanced program and we don't realize it.
6) God doesn't care about us
7) God forgot us
Cool Man (aka Tustin) God left us
9) God hates us
10) We are a failed experiment of god
11) Supernatural is a fucking awesome show

You missed the religious peoples favourite when questioned about why god does nothing when we suffer: 'he gave us free will'

Because we're on a timeline! Once you step off of the timeline there's no such thing as 'before' or 'after', just as there's no 'before' to the big bang because that's when time began.

Your inability to comprehend something doesn't invalidate the logic and science behind it.

You may be saying how can I have faith in something I just can't see?

But hear me out, you can't see oxygen but you still believe you can breathe.

This argument sucks, so much so that I just pulled a refutation straight from Google.

Standard reply 1: God Vs AirAir
1. We can see the effect air has.
2. We can perform chemical analysis to see what the air contains and in what quantities.
3. We can measure the force (pressure) exerted by the air.
4. We can and have formed predictive models for air and its effects on our environment. These tested positively
5. We CAN see air by reducing its temperature.

Why was it even removed? It would have been a shining light in this section amongst a pile of crap.

And in its place... this... thread. F*ck me sideways it's stupid.

Intellectual discussion is gone. TBH it wasn't the most used of subsections.

Yeah I see that, but that doesn't explain the decision at all. Everything was moved except that thread which was explicitly destroyed.
