Valve's 'steambox' name and details released at CES
By: Cade
Finally, the long awaited details of the glorious 'steambox' have been revealed by Xi3 and Steam at the Consumer Electronics Show. The small linux box has been named 'Piston' and will be modeled after Xi3's X7A mini-computer.

CMO of Xi3, David Politis, says the new Piston will offer 1 TB of internal storage and the parts inside, such as the CPU and RAM are upgradable.

Xi3 kept its mouth shut about the prices of the Piston, but it should be based off of it's X7A mini-computer which comes in at about $1000.

The demo unit of the Piston at CES was packed with an IO board with one ethernet port, 1/8" audio in/out, SPDIF optical audio, four USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports (with one dedicated to keyboard input), four eSATAp ports, two Mini Display Port ports and one DisplayPort/HDMI port.

Here's the video, because apparently four paragraphs is too much to read.

RIP PICHU.
If you state "Buy a PC instead", then every console/system you have sell them and stick with the PC.

Get rid of your DS, your Xbox, your PS3 because "you can build something better". This is a machine that will get cheaper.

Ps3s were selling for 1k+ on ebay the day after the initial release. Why pay that much when you can just buy a PC and play the same games on the PC (possibly free)?

i'm not saying that but the steam box is going to be expensive and run games from steam which is the pc game market 90% of pc gamers use. and why pay for the dumbed down mobile version when you can have the good full version.
