Established in November 2009, this exceeds the previous 2,430 m (2,657 yd) record set by Rob Furlong in 2002 by 45 m (49 yd).[1] This record was certified by Guinness World Records

Rob Furlong best known for holding the previous record for the longest confirmed sniper kill in combat, at 2,430 m (2,657 yd). Furlong's shot, taken in the Shah-i-Kot Valley during Operation Anaconda in March 2002, exceeded the previous record set by his teammate Master-Corporal Arron Perry by 120 m (130 yd). Furlong's record was surpassed in November 2009 by British sniper Craig Harrison who shot two Taliban fighters consecutively at a range of 2,475 m (2,707 yd).

Damn that is fucking nuts. I remember hearing about Rob Furlong and his record.. everyone was saying that it wasn't going to get beat... but sure enough Craig Harrison did it. :p

So? We are congratulating a man and awarding him for killing multiple people at record length?

Honestly, I'm for guns and all but even if persons being killed is the opposition, having it as a record just makes it sport.

If it's sport, then it much be OK to kill. Sigh.

I think it's crazy that he beat the record and everything, but like Pichu, I find it kind of stupid that they keep track of that as an actual record.

Obviously these days people are doing anything just to be in one of those Guinness world record books lol.

get over yourself its the miltitary they treat it like a sport because those people don't think twice about killing and we arn't like that so we compare it like sports to help get over it

I'm sorry, I'm actually against a military; I understand it's purpose but when people go into it just to "legally" kill people, that I find wrong. If this was World War 2 with Nazi Germany and it's allies, then I'd find it more acceptable but going in with high tech weapons, invading a land because the rich think they could get oil, just no.

If you have ever analyzed this stuff, you would know the people there are just like us but with a view of their own. Who is actually correct is the question you need to ask. Is it us? Is it them? Really, it's nobody. No one is right and no one is wrong. We find it wrong because they oppose our interest. That right there gives legitimacy to killing them. They too have families, they too struggle to survive, they too are humans.

Why is it that it is OK to kill someone in the Military and make it out as a sport, as some game or record. It is not sport when you sit a mile away holding a sniper and kill someone who expects nothing. These people in the military today who go in for killing, not everyone but that 1/4 of the military, are scum in my opinion. Why is this? If you want a sport, tell these fuckers to get off their stomach, take a knife and go face off against another man and see how much of a beast they are when they feel the flesh tear of another man.

That right there is what many people in WW1 and WW2 had to know and understand. Today, very very little of our men face this fact, they just sit around with high powered automatic weapons and snipers and blast the enemy away.
