Maggbot timeout!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So here is my story and I'll try to make it short as no one likes to read long post Happy So I have an HP Dm4 for almost 2 years now and brought it from BestBuy with ADH protection 2 years. My laptop started to act up lately as in shutting off for no reason about every 1 or so and I've check everything from battery, power cord, and power settings with everything updated so I decided to take it to GeekSquad as they are in charge of the fixing Luckily I had a month left. About 1 week pass and I get a call saying it was a Software problem with no Hardware failures and told me since I do not have tech support I would have to pay an extra $195.

As anyone with common sense I told them no and took the laptop home instead dealing with the annoyance of it shutting off. 2 weeks later which was about 3 days ago my Laptop now turns on but only to show a blank screen and blinking Caps lock with my Wi-fi on. I looked at the HP site and it shows that my CPU needs to be replace by the blinking code every one second on the Caps lock. At my curiosity I wanted to see how low Geek Squad would stoop in blaming that it's a software problem just to get me to throw that $195 at them for commission. (This is why they push you to buy it as every extra they sale to you as in service becomes a Commission sale, I know this because my cousin use to work for Geek Squad and they would push him to meet certain sales and or repairs a month any extra would just be a bonus)

So I brought it to Geek Squad and after showing them what Protection I had I bet you would've guess by know what they would say. These are the guy exacts words
" It turns on but has a blinking caps lock light and solid Wi-Fi light (Which is the Num Lock if you hold FN With it) I think it could be a Software problem" Funny Right? :ha!: So holding back my laughter I told him
" Can you explain how is this a software problem if Windows doesn't boot Heck Hp doesn't boot it's just a blank screen with a blinking Caps lock" ( Which Hp Identify as CPU Failure and needs replacement and falls under the category as Hardware) I would believe if it was software problem if I had a blue screen of death but no nothing just a damn blank screen with my fan running and Caps lock blinking.

If only I could've recorded this you should've seen the look on his face as he started to freak out and then told me
"Oh or it could be hardware I'm not sure after we do our tests."
So I agreed and left it with them wanting to see what stunt they would pull next trying to get me to buy What I do not need. I've also read stories as they would go as far as to cause the damage them self in order to avoid the replacement and not honoring their ADH plan and twist stories as dropping a camera 2 feet would be consider as reckless and not cover ( Personal experience with an mp3 5 years ago when I accidentally dropped it on the floor (wood) and the screen was cracked no bad but a small crack across the screen which they would not replace as they told me it was on purpose and literally falsely accuse me of throwing it on the floor)

So What do ya think will Geek Squad try to screw me over and not replace or repair my laptop, or would they suck up their guts and face the truth.

I can't stand Best Buy. All their crap is overpriced and their tech support is a rip off. Not only Geek Squad, but my friend wanted to restore his 20 gig harddrive and the guy was saying how he'd have to ship it to their headquarters and it might end up costing thousands upon thousands of dollars.

I will tell you this much.. I never liked GeekSquad. Honestly their services are nothing but scams and rip offs, and they literally put out all the mom and pop tech repair shops in my town(besides a hand full). The only thing good about GeekSquad is that you can exploit their stupidity, which they have a bunch of.

Hi Vashyron21!

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the experience you had at your local store. We definitely did not grow our organization to the size it is now by ripping people off, and most likely a local Agent made an honest mistake in the diagnostic of your system. Our Agents are not commission, and at Corporate we mandate that sales are not tracked against individual Agents in an effort to create the best possible environment for our Clients, where they feel they can trust us. For whatever reason, this is clearly not the current environment at your local store, and for that I apologize.

In regards to your computer it's pretty obvious to me, even based on the first description you gave, that it is a hardware problem that should be covered under your ADH Geek Squad Protection. I'm not sure what happened at the local store that lead them to anything other than this diagnostic, but I will be reaching out to them to attempt to correct the situation. You'll get a PM from me shortly asking for a bit more information so I can help get this resolved for you.

Obviously the local Agents dropped the ball here. Again, sorry for your experience and we will definitely get this resolved.

-Agent Patrick

It's always best to find local computer shop to do those fixing for a decent price. Look for reviews of the computer shops upon entering.
