Okay, is it hypocritical take tips, but not give tips?
So, when I go out to eat at restaurants, I 99% of the time, don't tip.. Call me a dirtbag I don't care. There's no rule or law or anything that says I have to! But, when I work, I have a tip jar (I work at Dunkin Donuts) and sometimes, people tip me, at the end of my shift, I take the tips.. Now people don't have to tip me either.. But my friends say it's very hypocritical that I take those tips and don't tip when I go out to eat.. Please tell me this is false as I am disagreeing with them.
Posts your thoughts and let me know! I want to show them that I'm not alone on this thought :p.
I do not think hypocritical is the right the right term in that situation... Or, maybe it is? But, you have a point that it is no a law. But, you should not expect great service when people start to recognize you.
I tip depending on the service and judging on how busy it is. For example if the person serving me does not come around @ all and I seem them just chit-chating the entire night the will get next to nothing...
I tip because I know that those people make next to nothing, some deal with the shittiest bosses, and the people they wait on can be just as bad. If its you and/or a couple people and you don't tip w.e... Although I think a table of 5+ people should be required to have a minimum tip rate included in the bill and if the customer thinks the service was good they can tip additionally.
