(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); now, im refering to the vegans that dont eat meat because they believe that we shouldnt treat animals like that and its wrong, equality and such.

my teacher is a vegan and im a steak on the barbie kinda guy. we often discuss this issue.

she belives that we would not want someone to slaughter us, marinate, then cook us so why do we do it. and she always ends with "its INHUMANE"....

saying honestly, cows are cows not humans, i believe that we humans are the superior race in this.

what do you guys think about this?
would like to hear your responses

sorry if i offened anyone in anyway (did i?).

Vegan is a interesting concept, however it goes against a couple evolutionary changes. Denying is completely is a mistake that said is a important to understand the environment impacts of meat eating.
Meat is very energy demanding and efficiency is pretty poor compared to other food sources. In a world which is going to get more strained for resources, high levels of meat production is a waste. Thing is are we the first animals able to understand and calculate are impacts due to are actions. No other animal which is able to think about this concept and quantify it in a form all it own species can understand. Current levels of meat consumption in the Western world is high, it growing around the world as middle class expands. The strain on water and land is going to increase at a exceptional rate, you're looking at exponential growth.
It a problem denying only a naive fool would do, so I disagree with the idea of being a Vegan based on how important of a diet source it is.
What need to happen a decrease in meat consumption around the world, and a increase in eating insects. Resources needed for insects is much lower compared to say beef or chicken. Protein is just as good in some cases it better to eat insects less fat. Nuts are a great source of protein also.
Strong case to lower how much meat we eat, unless we want a food crisis.

Don't agree with ideas behind being a vegan but something needs to be done using too much of the earth for food compared to what we are using. That said things need to be done to cut down waste, along with buying less.

If we were not meant to eat meat... I figure we would not have been born with incisors in our mouth.
I am pretty sure that humans were meant to be omnivorous.
Or we wouldn't have a set of grinders and cutters.

And what gets me the most...
Just because a carrot doesn't have a mouth... doesn't mean it isn't screaming when you pull it out of the ground.
If you mistreat a plant it dies... no differently than an animal.

I am definitely not going to feel badly about my position in the food chain... no more than a shark is going to feel bad about catching me floating in the open seas all alone... and anybody who does, should starve themselves for about a month in the desert, and see how bad they feel when they have to snap the neck of some lizard just to keep alive.

The ONLY reason we can have this argument is because we live in a world of excess...
Easy to blame the slaughterhouse for their methodical and mechanical methods, as being cruel... because you don't actually have to slaughter it yourself... you buy it in a plastic wrapped, red dyed and cleaned package.

How violent is ripping the soil from its place (tilling) casting seeds that have been torn from an un-matured plant (in an unnatural way I might add.... usually propagation is done by birds and bees)... who said corn wanted to grow in rows????
Diverting water just to keep them wet?
Tossing pig poop on top of them
And then taking a big scary combine, and cutting them all down before they had a chance to die naturally?

Please... some people have too much time on their hands.
If plants and animals were not meant to be culled, and consumed... we would all be able to live on air alone.

Honestly, coming from a failed vegetarian, Vegans have a point. Morally speaking, I would argue that eating and the methods of slaughtering these animals is morally wrong although the counterargument is that animals eat other animals in nature. Although that is true, the fact that an intellectual species like humans can contemplate the morality of eating animals makes it immoral to do so. That being said, coming from a practical stand point in terms of economics, agriculture, and health, it is actually incredibly stupid to be eating meat of any kind. It makes more sense to become a vegetarian based on the idea that 90% of the energy use to feed that cow is "lost," unusable to us and we only get 10%, it makes more sense just to eat the producers. Also coming from a health stand point a diet high in meat is actually not healthy and we should focus more on greens and legumes.

Well thats good on paper, but arent there some things that would prevent one from effectively becoming a vegan? And why do you need to go vegan to live a mostly healthy lifestyle anyway? Cant you do that eating meats as well?

This is one of the few ideologies that are good on paper and good in practice. There is absolutely nothing that could prevent you from not becoming a vegetarian/vegan except your will power. It has been scientifically proven that a diet high in protein (meat) as apposed to a vegetarian diet leads to a higher mortality rate. The problems with eating meat is that they are often high in fat and sodium as opposed to getting your protein from legumes which isn't high in fat and sodium, not to mention the vast amount of hormones in those meats. When you have a diet high in meat, you are more likely to contract cardiovascular and gastric problems, and many illnesses. I'll tell you what, that one month I was a vegetarian was the best feeling/health wise and because of that I limit myself to meat once a week.

At this point I'd like to remind you that both you and everybody you've ever cared about are also animals.
