(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); No, this isn't some bullshit video about a kid just talking about hating school or whatever much deeper. Just listen to it and tell us your thoughts.

My Thoughts:

I think it is rather interesting it makes you question something that most have never even thought to question but what I think about school is you know it should have more learning of basic life skills just like the video said such as balancing a checkbook and cooking and fixing simple things like a car even using power tools or building. Sure there are elective classes throughout middle school and high school now I didn't do any heavy research on it but just taking an average number of school days in year about 180 days x 7 hours = 1260 hours 1260 hours x 13 years = 16380 total hours in education roughly like do you know how much stuff to do with basic life skills in that amount of time? If you took 500 of those hours of those dedicated to cooking classes each and every person could be a fucking chef just. What about building a house or basic structure to survive? Take 50 of those hours and teach people how to use table saws, and every Power Tool out there. Take a few hundred of those hours and teach kids how to survive in the wild how to live off the land maybe if they got abandoned teach them how to build a fire, shelter, how to eat, how to kill. Now of course some of these things would be taught earlier than others and some later.

Like you cant take an 11 year old and trying to teach him how to survive in the wild that might be for a 16 year old. But anyway just leave below what you thing. I believe we spend to much time sitting in math class and sitting in history class and sitting in Science and all learning stuff that really doesn't prepare us for the "real world" of course I think that everyone should know some basic history, basic math but just like Geometry for example when in the fuck are you going to need how tall that flag pole is and use angles and degrees to figure it out? How many jobs will require that? Lets see Contractors maybe and uhhh yeah about nothing else. We learn things in school that aren't even used in life.

Please try to explain your response and maybe take 5-10 minutes or so actually think about it. Dig deeper than the surface. Try to stay away from responses like "This is dumb." or "Yeah I agree" and try to explain why you think its dumb or why you agree.

This video is perfect, it explains the root cause of almost everything that is going wrong with this world day by day. Primarily, it already should be a given that those children going to public schools are being taught to not question anything they learn, and are being taught solely for the purpose to help them become easy to manipulate people. I sit in class and listen to stupid teachers explain "facts" like how the USA is running a $100TN deficit a year, and how the Senate majority is Republican. These are just a few of the thousands of examples of bullshit that I have learned throughout school life, and no one dares question what our teachers are trying to teach. The state is pushing an agenda on children, most people over here in my grades cannot name the Prime Minister who came before Harper, and they can't even name how many seats they need for a majority when there is 308 seats in the House. And my God you should see the look on their face when I tell them that the United States is not a Democracy, but a Constitutional Republic. Our students are being raised politically and economically illiterate, which is perfect to guarantee future votes of power, very few students even know what the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms even is. Parents also need to get involved and discipline their children properly.

There is an enormous amount of money being dumped into the education system and test results are staying the same, quality of education is not going up. The problem is not us sitting in class learning Math and Science, the problem is that teachers and the State are pushing thoughts into these children that are not true, and I see it on a daily basis. Science and Math are extremely important, don't for a second think that I think they're not, but the information that we learn needs to be applied in some useful way. I think the main point in this video was trying to complain about students not working on real life skills, however parents should also have a role there are well. I watched a few of his videos before, and I feel that this is just another step to try to get politicians to get their laws passed without question, as well as having people stupid enough to not know who they are voting for. They want people to be stupid enough to vote them in but smart enough to be able to do the jobs that they will be forced to do. Government needs to get out of the education system altogether, stop charging taxes for education and let the children use that money instead to go to private schools or get home schooled. I know for a fact when I have a child that I will not place him/her in a State funded school like I am in right now, it's mind degrading to see people who are at the end of their highschool life and preparing themselves for university not having a basic understanding of how government works and has to consult their textbook to answer everything. They don't think for themselves at all.

"I will speak ill of
My initial thoughts after watching it is that this is little more than a rant. Let me explain in further detail. In most informational material, you explain in such a way that one should be able to connect the dots, instead the speaker forces down the idea that school does nothing worthwhile.

The issue with the argument that no skills are being taught can be addressed fairly easily. Language Arts is just about necessary, or useful in many scenarios. Knowing how to properly write a paper, or give a presentation (an activity done in many schools) has great importance. Math generally isn't required past Algebra, and sometimes Geometry, in order to graduate from High School. We are talking about basic problem solving skills. Science is of great importance because it is the study of... well everything. Having knowledge of how the universe works is good. Social Studies shows tragedies and greatness throughout history and how we should avoid certain patterns or history will repeat itself.

On topic of "real life skills", in California we have ROP (Regional Occupational Program) courses. Examples include: Auto Body Repair, Nursing, Culinary Arts, EMT, etc... Then there are electives: Culinary Arts, Foreign Language, Computer Science. Well then there are forms of expression and culture: Art, Animation, Drama.

I, however, will agree with the idea that for the most part schools don't do a good job of teaching kids how to think, and instead focus on test scores. Recently, I discussed with one of my teachers this issue and his current stance on it is that it is caused by how a schools funding is based heavily off of the test scores. According to him, our current program will likely change quite a bit in 2014.

Here are what I believe to be the real problems:
- Schools vary widely based on area
- Some teachers are just bad, and it can be challenging to get rid of them
- There needs to be more emphasis on how to think than what to think. (Although in AP's and Honors classes that is generally noticed)
PS: Learning how to change a tire, or balance a checkbook doesn't need a class. You must login or register to view this content., You must login or register to view this content.

I learnt more from the computers & the internet than I ever did in my school years, the only thing I learnt from school is if you don't do your shitty homework... you're in trouble.

Yes school is bullshit, but NO ONE will do anything about it. You'll still wake up the next day finding yourself going to school, everyone here will. YES people may stray away from school, but will that work out for them? Many of the famous rich people that we know, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, have dropped out of school, but they had a plan in their minds, what do we have? Just a plan to not go to school so we can just chill out at home all day? Probably lol. Most of us aren't geniuses like Gates and Zuckerberg, but, I agree with the video, more than with college... I hate college and student loans are insane, same with the price of books, goes up every year. But everyone says: "Get an education!!", I really wanna see where they ended up and if they went to school and where... I guess it depends because if you're smart enough and lucky enough to get a job as a lawyer or a doctor, you're in the clear for life, but again it depends and most of us aren't like that... It sucks but we'll do nothing about it as a whole.

No, I have realized it a long time ago. The issue is not that school is bullshit, as much as it is the State controlling education making it bullshit. I have taught myself everything I know about economics/business/law.
