Yes, this was bumped from about 2 months ago.
People 'believe' in god for 2 reasons:
- They fear death.
- They want their children to have a good life, so they use god as something for them to live for.
Honestly, I always thought church was a joke, but I officially stopped believing in god 100% in 8th grade.
But, on the flip side, atheists most common saying is:
"If God is so loving and all powerful, then why is there bad people in the world?"
Well Jesus, (supposedly) explained this in one of his Beatitudes (I think thats the name for them). He compared them to a farmer being god, and his crops being people.
I'm not exactly sure what Jesus said in it, but the story was basically this:

What the hell kind of a farmer lets weeds grow with his crops?
I know nothing about farming, but it seems like a stupid thing to do.
