I dont know much about politics because i could careless about it but this interested me. From what i know reagan had lied about trading arms for hostages? Also he at least knew about drugs coming into the country?

His focus on supply-side economic policies was a mistake, I don't know much about him apart from being a former actor.

He was mainly well known for his humour, and the fact that he spoke with Soviet leaders, most notably Gorbachev. He did a lot to try to end the Soviet Union, which finally fully collapsed under Bush Sr.

If you are familiar with political history and the conditions of the USSR, you will find his jokes quite humorous.


Apart from that, he is often hated by certain people due to his policies on welfare and defence. He did the opposite of what he was supposed to do and he increased the size of government and did technically triple the debt. (Although he added 1.4TN in 8 years opposed to the 1.4TN/year now). He spent too much, some would say it was needed to get out of the cold war, I'm not sure I agree with that.

And yes, he traded arms for hostages. Another big mistake.
