(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Me and my Roommate from whom I've met from high school (knowing him for nearly 10 years).

Budget $500-$550 /week.

My friend works full time earning around $700/week (he's a baker)

I earn around $600-$1000 every two weeks as I get paid fortnightly. I plan on asking for full time next year if it becomes available.

The only thing I don't know what will cost are food, electricity, internet and water bills. Any suggestions as to how much each will cost a week? With internet, i'm looking for fast and reliable.

take my advice, do not rent.

save the money you would be using to rent to save for a deposit on a house/flat or what ever with a mortgage, anyone will agree.

once you start renting you will always be renting, even if you do start to save it'll be little and seem or could take years to even get a small deposit.

even if it means living at home for a few more years it will be worth it.

me and misses are currently saving to get a mortgage and were 24, well she is im not till next month :vince:

you're not bound by any silly little rules then and can start to live your life how you want straight away, ive seen people rent since they was 18-19 and they havent lived the life they thought it would be, partying and having fun in the early days then stressed and depressed for the rest because of bills and not much money to spare.

take the tips ive been told and save, get a mortgage and buy.

We can't afford to buy where we want to live.

As Lew said. Living on your own isn't the easiest thing in the world. Like me, I make about £1,200 pm and £1,000 of that is gone on bills already.

My advice is to stay at home as long as you possibly can until you are finacially secure and are certain that you can afford living on your own. If you do move out, you may not have all of lifes luxuries straight away, but it would be something to look forward too.

We're both agreeing to renting and don't plan on changing that.

Get better jobs and then think about renting. Internet if going to cost 60 odd a month, only you can decide food costs, electricity will cost 150-200 as electricity bills are every two months (they are here anyway) and then I've no idea about water since water is free over here.
